You can use settings to individually customize the user interface and the program behavior in EPLAN Smart Wiring to your requirements and your working method. The following settings are available:
- You can select the desired color combination for the appearance of the user interface from four offered schemes.
- If you have completed the manufacturing work on a project, you can activate a check mode for quality control. In this mode the result of the check can be documented for each routing connection listed in the connection list.
- If the fully automatic wire fabrication machine "Rittal - Wire Terminal WT" is integrated in your manufacturing process, you can set up EPLAN Smart Wiring accordingly and enable it for the import of further machine-specific connection information.
- If connection properties for the labeling of cable connections (cable conductors), wires (single conductors) or hoses are to be printed, the output data can also be determined and the font and font size can be selected.
- With the exception of the cables it is possible to influence the display of the connection list by compiling the displayed columns of the connection properties by means of a configuration dialog as you require them for the installation.
Configuring a color scheme
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Colors.
- Select one of the four available color combinations from the drop-down list.
- The color adjustment of the user interface happens immediately afterwards.
Activating check mode
In the Check mode it is possible to document the quality of the installed wiring through the assignment of a check status.
Preconditions
- You have opened or continued a project of the *.EPDZ type.
- The project is completed, this means that all routing connections of the project have the status "Installed".
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Check modeMode that - after the installation of all wires in the enclosure - enables documenting of whether the "Installed" status assigned at each routing connection by the wirer in EPLAN Smart is correct..
- Select the Use option.
- All routing connections which so far have been marked with the status "Installed" in the connection list now receive the status "To be checked" .
Note
If there are routing connections in the connection list of the project that have the status "Partially installed" or "Not installed" , they are hidden in the connection list if the check mode is activated.
Setting the installation mode
With this mode it is possible to set up EPLAN Smart Wiring for the manufacturing process with the fully automatic wire fabrication machine "Rittal - Wire Terminal WT".
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Installation mode.
- Select the menu option Wire Terminal.
- The setting has the effect that when opening a project in the footer of the selection dialog you can have an additional Load "Wire Terminal" file check box displayed.
- In addition an additional menu item with the Load "Wire Terminal" file designation is added to the project menu.
The additional settings allow the download for the required connection information in form of a CSV file that comes from the machine software and that was provided to you in a specific directory by the administrator.
Note
If the "Cable" connection type is selected for editing, the installation mode cannot be set.
Setting the print output for the labeling of connections
In EPLAN Smart Wiring connection properties of routing connections for the labeling of cable connections (cable conductors), wires (single conductors), wire jumpers and hoses can be printed.
Preconditions
You have opened or continued a project of the *.EPDZ type.
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Labeling.
- In the Labeling menu select the Output data option.
- In the subsequently displayed list select all the connection properties that you wish to print.
- Switch back to the Labeling menu and select the Font settings option.
- In the Font settings menu select the desired font size and font.
- Switch back again to the Labeling menu and select the option Data separator settings.
- In the Data separator settings menu specify one of the available separators for the output data during printing. In the User-defined field you have the possibility to define any character as the separator.
Notes
- Note that after the creation of a new project instance the output data Source, Target and Description is set as a default for the print output.
- The output data set by you for the printing are saved at the respective project instance. If., for example, a colleague logs into EPLAN Smart Wiring under their name and edits the same project instance, the settings for the previously specified output data are retained.
Changing the column representation of the connection list
Depending on which information you require for the installation of the routing connections in the enclosure, the required columns with the respective connection properties can be individually adjusted to your requirements in the connection list. To this purpose the following configuration dialog that consists of two halves is available.
The left half shows the column elements of the available connection properties, the right half shows the column elements of the already selected connection properties as they are currently displayed in the connection list. To change the column configuration in the connection list, you can move other column elements from the left half to the right half of the configuration dialog or vice versa via "Drag & Drop". In addition it is possible to influence the sequence of the columns in the connection list, by changing the position of the selected column elements in the configuration dialog via "Drag & Drop" vertically. The respectively selected column configuration can be saved as a scheme.
Notes
- After logging into EPLAN Smart Wiring the scheme saved last by you is applied automatically to all opened or continued projects.
- The scheme is saved user-specifically, this means if you have logged in under another user name, the scheme last used by this user is applied to all opened or continued projects.
- You have the possibility to select a standard setting via the Reset button at any time. In the connection list it offers the columns with the connection properties No., Wire type, Source, Target, Cross-section Color, BundlePresorting of routed wires prior to fabrication. Wires to be routed one by one or in parallel are combined in an organizational manner, and provided as labeled bundles for wiring purposes. and Status.
- If you have selected the "Cable" connection type, a configuration of the connection list is not possible.
Since, in the case of column configuration, it is not possible to display all the connection properties in the connection list next to each other due to a lack of space, each column element in the configuration dialog is identified by a number between "1" and "3". The number stands for the relative space requirement of the respective column in the connection list and has the following meaning:
1: Column width small
2: Column width medium size
3: Column width large.
When selecting the column elements, the space requirement is calculated program-internally, whereby the sum of the column width may not exceed the value "18". The calculated value and maximum value are displayed above the selected column elements in the right dialog half. When the maximum value is exceeded, an additional selection of connection properties is not possible. You must then reduce the number of selected column elements and/or select another column configuration.
Configuring columns of the connection list
Preconditions
- You have opened or continued a project of the *.EPDZ type.
- You have selected a layout space.
- You have selected one of the following connection types for display in the connection list:
- Wire
- Wire jumper
- Tube.
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Connection list columns.
- The Connection list columns dialog is opened.
- Click or tap in the left half of the configuration dialog on the column element with the desired connection property that you add to the connection list. Keep the left mouse button pressed or keep the finger on the column element.
- Now "Drag & Drop" the column element from the left into the right dialog half and release it at the desired position.
- In the same way position further column elements and take into account that the displayed value of the calculated column width in the right dialog half must be a maximum of "18".
- If necessary, modify the sequence of the displayed connection properties in the connection list by moving the column elements vertically in the right dialog half via "Drag & Drop".
- If you want to reduce the number of the connection properties displayed in the connection list, "drag & drop" the desired column element from the right to the left dialog half and back.
- Select [Apply] to directly apply the new column configuration.
- If you want to apply the desired column configuration and additionally want to save a scheme, select [Save as], assign a name in the opening field and click or tap on .
Notes
- The No. and Status columns are mandatory columns and cannot be removed from the list of the column elements selected during the configuring.
- EPLAN Smart Wiring supports both the wiring of bundles as well as of daisy chains.
- As a default the Bundle mode is activated in EPLAN Smart Wiring, this means the connection list displays all routing connections with and without bundle assignment. If there are routing connections that are assigned to a daisy chain, you can select this option as the column element Chain in the configuration dialog.
Using and deleting schemes for the column configuration
Preconditions
- The same requirements apply as for configuring the columns.
- You have created one or more schemes for the column configuration of the connection list.
Procedure
- Select the menu item Settings > Connection list columns.
- The Connection list columns dialog is opened.
- Click or tap the button [Select scheme].
- In the expanding menu select the desired scheme.
- The scheme is applied immediately.
- If you want to delete a scheme, click or tap in the expanded menu
Note
The "Default" scheme cannot be deleted.
