Checking Missing Parts During Importing of PLC Data in the AutomationML Format

During the import of PLC data in the AutomationML format, you have the possibility to check before the import whether the parts used in the import file were found in the parts management. In the process the parts are identified on the basis of the properties PLC type designation or Device description: File name and Device description: Index in file.

The part allocation during the import of PLC configuration files is also carried out on the basis of these properties. If no suitable part is found, a simple PLC box is generated for the corresponding function.

Benefit:

By checking the parts before the import you can avoid incomplete imports.

You start the import via the menu items Project data > PLC > Import data. If you have selected an AutomationML format in the dialog Import PLC data, the interface [Options] is now active there.

In the subsequent dialog you specify via the check box Check parts before import whether missing parts should be checked before the import. The check box is selected by default.

All the parts not found are displayed in a message window in tabular form. Either the PLC type designation or the device description file name with index is shown in the PLC type designation column. Every missing part is only listed once, even when it occurs several times in the import file. By using the popup menu you can copy the entries and subsequently insert them into an Excel file, for example. You can use this list to add the parts in the parts management and subsequently carry out the import again.
