Tab Mounting data

In this tab, enter the mounting data for parts which do not belong to the "Cables" Product group.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Width / Height / Depth:

These fields are for entry of the device-specific dimensions in mm. When using wiring systems, the dimensional specifications correspond to the punched rail, the wiring cradle, or the perforation strip.

Note:

If an enclosure base is to be placed from the Accessory placement dialog that is defined in parts management by means of the properties Width, Height, and Depth, the values of the Depth and Height properties of the part must be replaced, so that the accessory part is placed in the correct position.

Space requirement:

This value is calculated when you select [Extras] > Space requirement. The values from the Width and Height fields are used. The following formula is applied:
(w*h) where w = width and h = height.

External placement:

Check this check box if the part should be labeled as "externally placed" and thus excluded from evaluation in panel layout (e.g., motors or generators).

Graphical macro:

The graphical macro creates a relationship between a part and the EPLAN macro for the graphical representation of the part. Using the Preview check box in the Select graphical macro dialog, you can display the graphical preview of the currently selected macro file. The preview is only displayed correctly, however, if a project is open; if no project is open, then the project-specific information is missing. In that case, missing symbols are replaced with red crosses.

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Note:

For the sake of optimal performance in your work with the EPLAN platform, you should save 2D and 3D data not in a single macro file, but only in separate macro files. This way you can ensure that 2D users do not necessarily have to access the extensive 3D data volume.

We recommend that you store the macro file with the 3D data and the "3D mounting layout" representation type in parts management on the Mounting data tab in the Graphical macro field. The macro file with the 2D data and the other representation types (Multi-line, Overview, etc.) should be entered, as before, in the Technical data tab of parts management in the Macro field. The files could be distinguished, for example, on the basis of name extensions (e.g., 3D macro ABC.12345_3D.ema and the corresponding 2D macro ABC.12345_2D.ema).

In all actions in the 3D environment for which a part macro is used (e.g., Insert devices), it is the "graphical part macro" that is checked first. If on the Mounting data tab a graphical macro has been entered for the part, and if it contains the desired "3D mounting layout" representation type, this macro will be used. If not, the "technical part macro" defined on the Technical data tab will be used.

Image file:

Note:

This assignment is primarily useful for device selection and results from the plug selection with plug symbol previews.

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Center mismatch:

If you do not want the part to be centered in the front view, enter the offset relative to the middle of the mounting rail. The item will then be automatically offset by this value.

Note:

This functionality is intended solely for the "Pro Panel" add-on; the property thus does not affect the 2D panel layout.

Clip-on height:

The clip-on height describes the position in the side view or from the top / bottom. When it is placed on a mounting rail, the item is automatically placed on the rail to the correct mounting depth. If the rail is replaced, the height of the item will move as well. The item is thus aligned above the top edge on the basis of the value entered here, rather than on the underside of the rail.

Note:

This functionality is intended solely for the "Pro Panel" add-on; the property thus does not affect the 2D panel layout.

Mounting depth:

Enter the mounting depth in mm here (default is 0 mm). This part property is only taken into consideration at a 3D part placement if no 3D graphical macro is used for the part placement. The value then automatically specifies how far an item projects into another item against the Z-axis and referenced to the mounting surface after the part placement.

Texture:

Click [...] in this field to select the desired image file for the texture in the subsequent file selection dialog. An image file stored in this field will then be displayed in the layout space during part placement - if the part dimensions exist - on the front side of the placed 3D object. Using an image file as texture displays the surface of a 3D model in more detail and more realistically or illustrates the photo of an original item.

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Mounting clearances:

These fields are for entry of the device-specific mounting clearances in mm. When using wiring systems, the dimensional specifications correspond to the punched rail, the wiring cradle, or the perforation strip.
If you enter values in this field, the space requirement calculation ([Extras] > Space requirement) uses the following formula:
((w+wc) *(h+hc)), where w = width, wc = width mounting clearance, h = height, and hc = height mounting clearance.
