Dialog Import / synchronize assignment list

In this dialog, you can import assignment lists, edit them and synchronize them with the schematic. The synchronization overwrites existing entries and adds new ones. Function texts are only overwritten if they have changed. Identical function texts remain – including any existing translations.

Note:

If an address format for digital and / or analog inputs and outputs is set, then only the addresses conforming to this format are imported. If no address format is set, then all addresses are imported.
In both cases the Import / synchronize all identifiers check box can be used to additionally define whether all identifiers, or only those defined in the scheme for PLC-specific settings, are imported.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

PLC-specific settings:

The scheme which defines the format of the PLC addresses is displayed in this field. The scheme is determined on the basis of the CPU that is contained in the selection and cannot be changed here. If no scheme is assigned to the CPU, the scheme specified in the project settings is used. The configuration project and the workstation name to which the CPU is assigned are further displayed via the field.

Note:

You can import only one separate list each for each processor (CPU). Therefore set the filter in the dialog Addresses / assignment lists so that the PLC addresses of only one CPU are displayed. You can alternatively import the PLC addresses into a new CPU.

File name:

The file name of the assignment list that you have selected for import is displayed in this field. Use [...] to open the file selection dialog and select a different assignment list.

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Note:

The file types available in the file selection dialog depend on the scheme selected in the dialog Settings: PLC.

Language:

All languages defined in the translation settings for the project are displayed in the drop-down list. Select the appropriate language for the assignment list. The "All displayed languages" entry is used to import the assignment list in all the displayed languages that are selected in the translation settings. Detailed information is available in the section "Export and import of multilingual function texts in the assignment list".

Warning:

EPLAN assigns the assignment list to the language chosen here. The entries from the assignment list are written into the appropriate dictionary. If you select a different language to that in which the assignment list is actually written, then the dictionary will then contain a mixture of languages.

Reference value:

Here you define the criteria used by the system to recognize existing entries. The CPU is always compared; within a CPU, either the address or the symbolic address serve as the reference value. Identical entries are overwritten and the others are added to the list.

Import / synchronize all identifiers:

If this check box is selected, then all addresses in the assignment list are imported - regardless of their identifier. Identifiers that are not defined in EPLAN (e.g. timers, flags, etc.) are also taken into account.

If the check box is deactivated, only those identifiers specified in the Addresses tab in the dialog Settings: PLC-specific are imported.

Keep line breaks in the project:

When an assignment list is imported, the function texts existing in the project are compared with the function texts from the import file. In most formats the function texts in the import file do not have any line breaks.

If this check box is activated, the function texts existing in the project are kept and not overwritten by the function texts from the import file if the function texts only differ through line breaks or blanks. This ensures that the line breaks carried out in the project as well as existing translations are kept.

If the check box is deactivated, the function texts existing in the project are overwritten by the function texts from the import file even if the function texts only differ through line breaks or blanks. Line breaks in the project can be lost in the process. The changed function texts are only imported in the language set in the assignment list. Translations in the project are deleted in the process.
