Completing Data of Bus Ports

Writing back a cnfiguration project to bus ports

For the data exchange of PLC configuration files it is necessary that the Configuration project property is filled with the same value for all PLC boxes and bus ports that belong to a certain bus configuration. I/O connection points do not have this property since they are automatically assigned to a configuration project via the associated PLC box. Through the action Write back configuration project to bus ports you can transfer the configuration project of a PLC box to the respective bus ports.

  1. In the graphical editor or the PLC navigator mark the desired bus ports. Or select in the page navigator one or several project pages or a project.
  2. Select the following menu items: Project data > PLC > Complete data > Write back configuration project to bus ports

Insert the value of the Configuration project property at the marked bus ports of the respective PLC box. Any existing entries for the configuration project at the bus ports are overwritten with the value of the respective PLC box in the process.

Note:

If a single bus port is to be assigned to another configuration project, the values have to be changed manually subsequently.

Synchronize bus interface names

Together with the plug designation the bus interface name is identifying for bus ports. If the same bus port exists in multiple representation types in the project, it is necessary that the bus interface name is entered in all representation types for global editing and for reports. You can transfer the bus interface names at all representation types of the same bus port by using the Synchronize bus interface names action.

  1. In the graphical editor or the PLC navigator mark the desired bus ports. Or select in the page navigator one or several project pages or a project. Ensure that all existing representation types of the bus ports are included in the selection.
  2. Select the following menu items: Project data > PLC > Complete data > Synchronize bus interface names

The value of the Bus interface: Name property that is entered at a representation type is transferred to all other representation types for the marked bus ports. If different bus interface names are available at different representation types, the values remain unchanged and the bus interface name is not transferred to the other representation types.

Synchronize names of physical networks

The logical network is a subset of the physical network. Therefore all bus ports of a logical network must also be assigned to the same physical network. By means of the Synchronize names of physical networks action you can transfer the name of the physical network from the bus master to the associated bus slaves within the same logical network. The associated bus slaves are found via the properties Logical network: Name and Configuration project, both values must match for the bus master and the bus slave.

  1. In the graphical editor or the PLC navigator mark the desired bus ports. Or select in the page navigator one or several project pages or a project.
  2. Select the following menu items: Project data > PLC > Complete data > Synchronize names of physical networks

For the marked bus ports the value of the property Physical network: Name is transferred from the bus master of the logical network to the other bus ports (slaves) within the same logical network. Any existing entries for the name of the physical network at the bus ports are overwritten with the value of the respective bus master in the process.

Tip:

For error-free export of network structures all bus ports of a physical network must be displayed as single-line and must be connected to each other. With the check runs 004103 and 004104 you can check whether bus master and bus slave have the same value of the property Physical network: Name and if all bus ports of a physical network are connected to each other.
