Changing a Route

The routing track of a connection determined by routing can be influenced by modifying the route.

The Layout space: Routing track specification connection property is filled by modifying the route. Subsequently, the connection filters are no longer taken into account for the routing of these connections.

Use the Modification points to modify a route. These points are displayed during manual modifications to the route. By moving a modification point to another, it is possible to modify the routing track of connections. If several connections run through the routing path or duct, a selection dialog will be displayed where you choose the connection that is to be moved into the new routing path / new duct. The routing paths and routing ranges are then entered in the Layout space: Routing track specification property at the selected connections.

  1. Select the menu items Project data > Connections > Change route.

On manual and automatic routing paths, and on visible non-routed connections, cuboid-shaped modification points become visible. In the case of routing ranges, a modification point becomes visible in the center of each routing range.

The status bar shows a prompt "Select source routing path".
  2. Move the cursor close to a point that belongs to a routing path that you want to remove from the routing track.

The modification point is framed with a red square as a snap point.
  3. Click to select the snap point.

The status bar shows a prompt "Select target routing path".
  4. Tip:

When modifying tube connections via the Change route function, you can also select several source and target routing paths. The selection of the source routing paths is completed by pressing the spacebar.

  5. Move the cursor close to a point that belongs to a routing path through which the connection is to be re-routed.

Between the initially selected modification point of the source routing path and the cursor, a white line is displayed.
  6. Click to select the modification point of the target routing path.

The Connections dialog is displayed, which lists all the connections routed through the source routing path. Displayed connections are already highlighted in the dialog.
  7. Tip:

When changing the route ensure that the routing specifications contain all the routing paths of the new form. This is important in particular at freely routed cables because incomplete routing specifications (for example only the routing paths before and after the change in direction) can result in a longer cable length .

  8. Activate the check box in the Change route column for the connections that are to be re-routed in the selected target routing path.
  9. Click [OK].

    The selected connections are re-routed.
