The rack provides the name of the PLC. Every card belonging to the PLC should have the same rack name. Racks are groupings of PLC devices (in a row in an open housing or on a DIN rail) that are electrically interconnected by means of a backplane. The backplane serves the voltage supply and the communication of the interconnected devices with each other.
