A device typically contains all of the identifying information (such as higher-level function, mounting location, and identifier) in its device tag. An identifier check function is available for checking the length and validity of the characters in the specifications for the DT.
A check also takes place when entering the identifier in Structure identifier management. You specify which characters are permitted in the settings for the DT syntax check. By default, the characters are not permitted unless they are defined as permitted special text characters in the settings.
The identifier check offers you the following options:
- You can deactivate the check, if necessary.
- You can define various settings and permissible special characters for the check of identifier blocks, device tags, and counter numbers.
- EPLAN offers you the option of ignoring an invalid character during the syntax check.
