In this dialog, the project data is displayed in a logical view.
Overview of the main dialog elements:
Filter:
This drop-down list displays all the available filters. A selected filter is automatically activated and is applied to both the tree and the list view. The "- Not activated -" entry deactivates the filter and causes an unfiltered display of the data. Click [...] to open the Filter dialog. Here you can create, edit, delete, copy, export, import, and manage filters.
The popup menu of the Filter drop-down list contains the following entries:
Deactivate: This popup menu item is available if a filter has been set: Resets the filter setting to the "- Not activated -" entry.
Activate <filter name>: This popup menu item is available if the filter setting is "- Not activated -": Reactivates the last active filter.
This allows you to toggle rapidly between the unfiltered representation and a representation filtered in accordance with your requirements.
Value: <Property>:
Use this field, via Quick input, to adjust quickly the value of a filter criterion for a defined and activated filter.
Tree:
Shows all devices existing in one or more open projects. The devices are sorted according to the structure identifiers of the device structure. Devices that have not been sorted into a defined project structure by means of structure identifiers are sorted into the tree structure level Without structure identifier. This tree structure level is displayed only in projects with an identifier structure (e.g., IEC identifier structure); that is, it is not displayed in sequentially numbered projects. Devices without a DT are sorted into the Without DT tree structure level below the tree structure level Without structure identifier.
The icons identify the function's status and representation type.
If the level of a part is selected and the Graphical preview dialog is activated, the product photo of the part is displayed, if one has been stored.
Highlighting Dependent Functions
When you highlight a function in the tree view of the device navigator, all the dependent functions are highlighted in bold. Depending on which editing mode you are using, there are two possibilities.
Possibility
Highlighting
Under the Options menu the menu item Properties (global) is deselected.
All functions that use the DT of the selected function are highlighted.
Under the Options menu the menu item Properties (global) is selected.
All functions that belong to the device are highlighted.
List:
Shows all devices existing in one or more open projects. The view and sorting of the devices depends on the column configuration selected in the Configure representation dialog.
Note:
Via the New device popup menu option it is also possible to select parts from the "Mechanics" generic product group and create them as a device. This results in a mechanical device with unplaced mechanical functions. Mechanical functions cannot be created by using the popup menu items New and New functions because mechanical functions without parts do not make sense.
