PLC Documentation in Single-line Representation

To simplify the documentation of wiring and cabling for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in plants and machines, the single-line representation is often used. If bus systems are used, the single-line schematic is the ideal page type for visualizing network structures.

A PLC connection point in single-line representation always represents a signal terminal. In contrast to multi-line representation, in the single-line representation of PLC connection points, the power connections are often not documented. The DT and the connection point number are important for the identification of a PLC connection point, on both multi-line and single-line schematic pages.

To represent network structures a special type of connection point is available - the bus port. The bus ports connect, for example, a master with several slaves. The connections are shown as single-line cables.
