New help system

The EPLAN Smart Wiring help has been put completely online for more user-friendliness and integrated into the EPLAN Information Portal.

User interface

New menu and dialog designations as well as icons

Some menu items and dialog designations have been optimized for the purpose of improved comprehensibility and more user-friendliness.

User interface

Changed position for the button for writing project comments

In the title bar of the application the button for writing project comments is now located next to the display of the status information. The icon of the button has furthermore been implemented as a speech balloon.

Opening a project

Restricting the number of projects by entering a filter expression

When opening a project you now a filter field available in the title bar of the Open project dialog. You can restrict the number of offered projects in the dialog to those that have the applied filter expression in the name by entering any character string. The filter functions directly during the entry.

Continuing a project

When continuing a project you are now shown the installation and check status by means of the two symbols located next to each other.

The symbol in the first position next to the project name stands for the installation status and can have the following displays:

Symbol

Meaning

The routing connections of at least one instance of the project are not fully installed.

The routing connections of all instances of the project are fully installed.

The symbol in second position next to the project name stands for the check status and can have the following displays:

Symbol

Meaning

The routing connections of at least one instance of the project are not fully checked.

The routing connections of all instances of the project are fully checked.

Project and connection comments

Screenshots and file attachments for project and connection comments

When creating project and connection comments you can now also create a screenshot of the wiring situation currently displayed in the 3D view via a click of a button and send it via e-mail. It is also possible to attach any file to the comment and send it as an e-mail attachment.

Connection list / settings

Print output of the connection properties

It is now possible to print the properties of a routing connection for the labeling of wires from the detailed view of the connection list. The button is available to this purpose. The desired output data can be configured in the settings for the labeling. In addition you can specify the font size and font.

New mode for checking routing connections

To check whether after completion of a wiring project all routing connections marked as "installed" are actually correctly installed as real wires in the enclosure, a so called "check mode" has been implemented. This mode can be activated in the settings via the menu item Apply. In the check mode the following new status and icons are available to you in the connection list:

Wire has to be checked

Checked

Correction required

The statuses can be assigned in the detailed view of the routing connection on the connection symbol of the routing connection.

Further information

3D view

Visualization of device tags

In the 3D view you can have the complete device tag of the electrical items placed in the mounting layout of the selected layout space displayed. The functionality is only active if you have selected a certain zoom factor which is now signaled through a green icon with a stylized hand in the object selection display. When clicking or tapping the item, a blue label with the associated device tag is displayed.

Further information

3D view

Transparency mode for electrical and mechanical items

To optically highlight the routing connections of the mounting layout in the selected layout space, electrical and mechanical items can be displayed transparently in the 3D view. The button is available in the main view to this purpose. The button has three states, that allow a fully transparent, a semi-transparent and a non-transparent display of the items.

Further information

3D view

Display of further buttons in full-screen mode

In full-screen mode of the 3D view, the buttons for the transparency mode , the fixation of the view / viewpoint and the object selection display for zooming are now displayed.

3D view

New display information in full-screen mode

The project name and the name of the opened layout space are now displayed in the 3D view full-screen mode for better orientation.

3D view

The red highlighting of routing connections in the 3D view, selected via the connection list, has been undone again. Selected routing connections in the 3D view are now displayed again in the original color.

3D view

Optimized view on the routing connection

The display of a routing connection in the 3D view selected via the connection list has been improved to the extent that the largest part of the routing connection is always visualized. For example, this means that also such routing connections are optimally displayed that lead from the rear of a mounting panel to the front of a mounting panel located behind it.

3D view / connection list

Opening the connection properties of a routing connection via the 3D view

With the 3D view you can open the properties of a visualized routing connection in the connection list. To do this first zoom into the 3D view until the object selection display shows the green icon with the stylized hand (). Then mark the desired routing connection that at first is only highlighted in color. By remarking you then open the associated detailed view with the properties of the routing connections in the connection list.

Connection list

Enclosure selection

If the wiring project to be edited has a layout space with multiple enclosures, the desired routing connections of the respective enclosure can now be displayed in the connection list via the search and filter bar of the connection list by means of the button and can be visualized in 3D view. In a selection dialog you decide whether you want to have the routing connections of a particular enclosure, of all enclosures or only the cross-enclosure routing connections displayed.

Connection list

Display of schematic pages

If you are editing an EPLAN Pro Panel project with a 3D mounting layout that contains schematic pages, it is now possible to have the schematic page with the routing connection displayed as an additional guidance. To do this open the connection list in the detailed view of the desired routing connection and click the button . In a flyout click or tap the desired page names and open the schematic page as SVG graphic in a separate display window.

Further information

Connection list

New properties on the routing connection

In the detailed view of the connection list, the connection properties Tools, Minimum tightening torque and Maximum tightening torque of the source and target connection of each routing connection can now be displayed, if those data are stored at the connection point patterns of the electrical items in the project open for editing.

Connection list

Color-based identification of connection points for daisy chains

When wiring daisy chains two wire ends each have to be placed at one and the same connection point of the source and target item. To alert you as the finisher to this wiring situation during the routing of connections, EPLAN Smart Wiring automatically marks the shared source and target connection points of the corresponding routing connections with a colored label in the connection list.

Further information

Connection list

Optical highlighting of filter fields

When filtering the connection list for certain values of connection properties, the active filter field is now surrounded with a red frame for improved detection.

Connection list

Detection of jumpers in the EPDZ file

If the open project is based on a file of the *.EPDZ type and if connections with the "Wire jumper" function definition were used in this project, these connections are detected by EPLAN Smart Wiring and are offered for editing in the connection list.
