New setting for updating device data

If the parts in the project are older than in the parts database, the newer data is stored in the project during a parts database synchronization. The new user-specific setting Update device data after the storing of parts can be used to determine whether the device data in the project should be updated as well or not. (Menu path: Options > Settings > User > Management > Parts).
If the check box in the dialog Settings: Parts (user) is activated, the newer device data is also transfered to the main functions that use these parts, in addition to the parts data synchronization.
If the check box is deactivated, no device data is updated in the project.

New behavior for black and white printing

Individual graphical elements were not included in the output for black and white printing. These are graphical elements that are, for example, displayed in white or black when the color scheme setting "Black" is set in the graphical editor. So that these elements also appear in the output, graphical elements with the EPLAN color numbers 8, 255, 263, 264 and 266 are now output in black when the "Print in black and white" setting is activated during printing and during the PDF and image file export.

Extended settings for the reset area of the connection numbering

In the Designation tab of the Settings: Connection numbering dialog you specify the format for the connection designations. A menu path to these settings is: Options > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Connections > Connection numbering. When the format for the counter is specified you now additionally have the possibility to have the counter reset when the schematic path changes. The new Schematic path check box is available in the Settings: Counter reset range dialog to this purpose.

Changeover of properties to the field type "Value with unit"

For many properties (for parts, functions, connections, etc.) the field type was changed from "Monolingual text" to "Value with unit". Therefore the representation of the decimal separators now complies with the settings of the operating system. This means that not the entered decimal separators ("," or ".") but those set in the operating system are displayed.

Connection of the new EPLAN Data Portal

The new EPLAN Data Portal is now available as a Cloud application under EPLAN ePULSE in the EPLAN Platform. After signing in you also have access to the parts data of more than 300 leading manufacturers in the new EPLAN Data Portal. The user interface of the new EPLAN Data Portal has been revised and completely redesigned. Search results are now shown more quickly through an improved search function. Easily accessible selectors and configurators of leading component manufacturers have also been integrated. With the introduction of the new EPLAN Data Standard standardized parts data are available and can be detected easily.

Updating the Parts Database

The parts database of the parts management has been updated for Version 2.9 SP1. If you now open an "older" parts database in the EPLAN platform (Version 2.9 or older), you have to update the parts database before you can edit it. Updated old and new (from 2.9 SP1) parts databases can be opened (for example, for parts or device selection) in older EPLAN versions (Version 2.9 or older) but not edited.

During the import of PLC data in the AutomationML format the option Start "Generate PLC schematic" was not available in the Import PLC data dialog in the past. This functionality is now also available for the import of PLC configuration files in the AutomationML format.

Information during the import of files with a higher AutomationML version

An import file in AutomationML format is always imported irrespective of the AutomationML version with which the file was created. This means that all the data known for the respective EPLAN version is imported. As of EPLAN Version 2.9 SP1 an information is now displayed when an import file with a higher AutomationML version is created than that supported by the used EPLAN version. In this case it is possible that not all the data contents are imported.

The placement of the properties was corrected at multiple symbols in all standard symbol libraries. In addition the symbol graphic was corrected in these symbol libraries for the symbols QLTR3_1 // 1527 and QLTR4 // 1528 and the contact image variant for the symbols SL2 // 1624 and SL3 // 1625.

Master data: New plot frames for the American market

Three new plot frames for the American market have been created: "FN1_078_en_US.fn1", "FN1_079_en_US.fn1", "NFPA_3_Ladder_mm.fn1".
In addition the FN1_016.fn1 plot frame has been created. This plot frame can be used for the change of standard from IEC to NFPA if the plot frame size is to remain in DIN.
In the course of this change numerous en-US plot frames have been corrected and some plot frames not required anymore have been removed.

The two basic projects Inch Template_bas.zw9 and NFPA_bas001.zw9 have been replaced in accordance with the NFPA standard by two new basic projects NFPA_Inch_bas001.zw9 and NFPA_mm_bas001.zw9. The old project templates Inch Template.ept and NFPA_tpl001.ept have also been removed.

Cross-reference of contacts takes contact / coil index into consideration
