When you start placing rapid prototyping parts, the settings for each part are displayed in the command bar by default. If you invoke the placement command of any rapid prototyping part with the [Space bar], the part is placed directly in the workspace / workdesk working window. The settings of all rapid prototyping parts contain the Show before placing check box in the command bar. If you deactivate this check box, the settings are not shown any more and the part is directly inserted into the workspace / workdesk working window. You can accept the settings by clicking the [Continue] button in the command bar or by right-clicking. Modifying the settings before placing the parts does not change the default rapid prototyping settings.
Rapid prototyping wires
Click the Place rapid prototype wire button on the toolbar to define the following properties in the command bar:
- Cross-section: cross-section of the rapid prototyping wire.
- Outside diameter: outside diameter of the rapid prototyping wire.
- Color: color of the rapid prototyping wire.
Rapid prototyping wires have the same behavior as library wires and can be replaced by a library item in the Tasks panel or by using the Replace popup menu item. See Placing Wires for more detailed information.
Rapid prototyping cables
Click the Place rapid prototype cable button on the toolbar to define the following properties in the command bar:
- Outside diameter: outside diameter of the rapid prototyping cable.
- Cable color: color of the rapid prototyping cable.
- No. of wires: number of wires of the rapid prototyping cable.
- Wire cross-section: cross-section of the individual wires of the rapid prototyping cable.
- Wire outside diameter: outside diameter of wires of the rapid prototyping cable.
- Wire color: color of the wires of the rapid prototyping cable.
- Wire name prefix: name prefix of the wires of the rapid prototyping cable.
Notes:
- Rapid prototyping cables must contain at least one wire.
- The outside diameter of an insulator can be edited in the properties panel after the rapid prototyping cable has been placed.
Rapid prototyping cables have only one layer - insulation and wires. It is not possible to replace them by a library cable. Non-active wires can be added to rapid prototyping cables.
Rapid prototyping (ribbon) cables
Click the Place rapid prototype ribbon cable button on the toolbar to define the following properties in the command bar:
- Width: width of the rapid prototyping ribbon cable.
- Height: height of the rapid prototyping ribbon cable.
- Cable color: color of the rapid prototyping ribbon cable.
- No. of wires: number of wires of the rapid prototyping ribbon cable.
- Wire name prefix: name prefix of the wires of the rapid prototyping ribbon cable.
Note:
Rapid prototyping ribbon cables must contain at least one wire.
Rapid prototyping ribbon cables have the same behavior as library ribbon cables, they can, however, not be replaced by library ribbon cables. Wires can be added to rapid prototyping ribbon cables. See Placing Ribbon Cables for more detailed information.
Rapid prototyping (ribbon) connectable objects
Click the Place rapid prototype connectable object button on the toolbar to define the following properties in the command bar:
- Ribbon connectable object: if activated, a rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object is placed; if deactivated, a rapid prototyping connectable object is placed.
- Connectable object shape: selection of one of the following options: Only grouped pin (only a grouped pin is placed), Cuboid (a cube-shaped base with a grouped pin is placed), Cylinder (a ball-shaped base with a grouped pin is placed).
- Connectable object size: size of the rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object.
- Connectable object color: color of the rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object.
- No. of pins: number of pins of the rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object.
- Grouped pin size: size of the rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object grouped pin. It is a diameter of the rapid prototyping connectable object grouped pin.
- Pin color: color of the grouped pin of the rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object.
- Pin name prefix: name prefix of the pins of the rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object.
Rapid prototyping ribbon connectable objects can be replaced by a library connectable object in the Tasks panel or by using the Replace popup menu item. Pins can be added to rapid prototyping ribbon connectable object grouped pins. See Placing Connectable Objects for more detailed information.
Note:
To define the relations between the wires and rapid prototype connectable objects, use the pin editor by clicking the [Connections] button in the properties panel.
Rapid prototyping special components
Click the Place rapid prototype splice / fuse / light / capacitor / resistor button / / / / on the toolbar to define the following properties in the command bar:
- Size: diameter of the rapid prototyping special component.
- Color: color of the rapid prototyping special component.
- No. of pins: number of pins of the rapid prototyping special component.
- Pin name prefix: name prefix of the pins of the rapid prototyping special component.
Rapid prototyping special components can be replaced by library special components in the Tasks panel or by using the Replace popup menu item. Pins can be added to rapid prototyping special components. See Placing Special Components for more detailed information.
Note:
To define the relations between the wires and the rapid prototyping special component, use the pin editor by clicking the [Connections] button in the properties panel.
