- Click the Import external geometry button on the toolbar.
- Browse to the desired location and select the desired file(s).
- Click [Open] to start the import process.
The imported objects are displayed in the current 3D window and also in the 3D navigation panel.
The imported objects and their components are represented in the navigation panel by means of the following symbols:
Symbol | Name | Description |
|
Imported file | Top node of imported object |
|
Assembly | Node containing further assemblies or parts |
|
Part | Object on the lowest level |
Geometry, appearance, and properties of imported objects can be edited in the properties panel. The properties common to all 3D objects are described in the 3D Properties Panel section of this help file.
Some 3D formats support custom properties to be defined for the constituent graphical parts of the 3D object; these properties are imported as user-defined properties for the appropriate part and assembly nodes and are visible in their respective properties panels.
