Updating projects

If the design department has to change the mounting layout and therefore the wiring in the enclosure, the status of the project instance currently being edited can be updated by loading a new project file.

Preconditions

• You are currently editing a specific project instance.
• You have received information from the engineer that routing connections in the project have changed and this new status has been copied to your working directory or its subdirectory.

Procedure

1. Select the menu items Project > Update project.
2. In the next dialog, select the project file updated by the engineer.
3. The new status of the project is now loaded to the editing state of the currently opened project instance.
4. Both statuses have been compared to each other and merged.
5. Routing connections to be newly installed, to be uninstalled or removed routing connections are displayed in the connection list by correspondingly highlighted color status symbols.
6. If the project to be updated includes a 3D mounting layout and if constructive changes have resulted, the graphical information in the 3D viewThe 3D view is a separate display area in EPLAN Smart Wiring. This is always visible when 3D information is available in the loaded project. is modified accordingly.
3. Continue the editing process by installing new, not yet wired routing connections and uninstalling the removed routing connections.
