Using the check mode

After completion of a wiring order the connection list in EPLAN Smart Wiring can additionally be used for quality control. To this purpose the so called check mode must be activated in the Settings.

You - or a colleague who has been explicitly assigned - check in this case on the basis of the connection list whether all the routing connections that are marked as "Installed" are connected as actually routed wires in the enclosure. You document the check result in the connection list at the respective routing connection.

In the check mode three additional statuses are available in the connection list. These are distinguished by the following icons:

Status

Meaning

Wire has to be checked (default setting at each routing connection marked as "Installed" after the activation of the check mode)

Checked (wire was installed correctly)

Correction required (wire is installed incorrectly).

Notes

Please note the following information on the check mode:

  • Routing connections that have the status "Partially installed" or "Not installed" are hidden in the connection list after the activation of the check mode.
  • When the check mode is deactivated, it is not possible to reset the check mode in a completely checked project (all routing connections have the status "Checked").
  • An activation of the check mode or the editing of a wiring project is not possible in Simultaneous operation.
  • Updating the project in check mode is possible.
  • In check mode the connection list can be filtered for all three check modes.

Check mode assigned

General requirements

Procedure

  1. Open the detailed view of the first routing connection in the connection list.
  2. The buttons at the source and target connection point show the status "Installed" , the button for the complete routing connection has the status "To be checked" .
  3. Check the corresponding wire in the enclosure at the source or target connection point of the associated item by checking for the correct mounting, tight fit or further test criteria.
  4. After the wire has been checked in the enclosure, change the status of the connection symbol at the far right in the detailed view as follows:
  • If the wire is installed correctly, click or tap the connection symbol once.
  • Its status changes from "To be checked" to "Checked". In this case the connection points at the source and target also receive the status "Checked".
  • If the wire is installed incorrectly, click or tap the connection symbol for a second time.
  1. Its status then changes from "Checked" to "Correction required" . In this case the connection points at the source and target also receive the status "Correction required".
  2. Repeat the check and status assignment for all other routing connections of the connection list.

Note

In order to make it possible n the enclosure to assign the "Checked" status to an incorrectly marked routing connection in the connection list after another check of the respective wire the check mode must first be deactivated and the "Installed" status must be assigned to the routing connection. Only after another activation of the check mode it is possible to assign the "Checked" status at the routing connection.
