Mechanics
The field size is the physical area of the item (e.g., a mounting panel) that is inserted in the NC machine (with all mounting). It thus defines the size of an NC-relevant mounting surface from a production perspective. For instance, it makes a difference whether a mounting panel is inserted in the drilling robot together with its attachments or whether they are removed. This size tells the machine the size of the item being machined.
