Texts

In EPLAN there are different types of text:

Using the Clipboard, it is possible to move texts between different applications. All existing line breaks are kept.

Using direct editing (Options > Direct editing), you can activate an editing mode that allows you to directly modify individual graphical text. Once this editing mode is switched on, an editing frame will be displayed and the icon will appear on the status bar.

Formatting of texts

All texts can be formatted, that is, you can specify size, color, text direction, font, font style, and so on, arbitrarily.

The possible fonts are specified in the project and company settings. When formatting in a project, you can only select from these preselected fonts. Fonts are not saved in the project.

The entry of certain special characters is also possible using a selection dialog which you can call with the popup menu when editing texts.

Display of vertical texts

In many Asian languages such as Chinese, Japanese or Korean, texts are written from top to bottom. Such texts can be displayed and printed by means of the so-called "@-fonts" (these are fonts at which the "@" is prefixed).

When an @-font is used in the dialog, the text can be written horizontally in the dialog, the characters have the correct orientation and can be read. When displayed on a project page, however, the Asian characters are displayed rotated.

If you select a text angle of -90°, the Asian characters are displayed on the project page in their correct orientation from top to bottom, meaning that they can be read. Latin characters and numbers are however displayed rotated. After a PDF export or printing of the page, these characters are also displayed orientated from top to bottom.
