Opening and Closing Pages

Opening Pages

Precondition:

You have opened a project. You have opened the Pages - <Project name> navigator dialog.

  1. Select a page in the tree or list view.
  2. Select the menu item Page > Open.

The page is opened in the graphical editor. The page name is displayed as a tab above the graphic.

Note:

The user interface setting Manage graphical editors project-specifically (under the menu items Options > Settings > User > Display > User interface) can be used to specify whether - when working simultaneously on several projects - a separate graphical editor / 3D view is to be opened when a page / layout space is opened in any further project or whether the currently opened page of a project is to be closed as soon as you change to a page in a different project.

Open page in new window

  1. Select a page in the tree or list view.
  2. Select the Open in new window popup menu item.

The selected page is opened in another graphical editor window.

For every opened page a tab is shown above the graphic. You can quickly switch between pages by clicking these tabs.

Open a page in multi-user operation

A schematic page can only be edited by a single user. As soon as a user opens a page, then it is locked. A second user can only open this page read-only and receives a message stating this fact.
The message contains the Windows login names and the full name of the first user, so that the second user knows who has locked the page and can then discuss this with them if necessary.

Select the next page / previous page

Once you have opened one page of a multi-page project, you can then "page" through all project pages in the graphical editor.

Tip:

To page through the project pages, you can also use the [Page Down] / [Page Up] keys or the / buttons in the Page toolbar. However, if the cursor is located in the Pages - <Project name> navigator dialog, the keys will not page through the pages but will cause the cursor to jump to the last or first element visible in the current tree view.

Save pages

Changes to a page are automatically saved as soon as you switch to another page or close the project.
