Defining Wiring Cut-outs at Wiring Combs

EPLAN offers the possibility to automatically place a wiring cut-out when inserting wiring combs in the layout space. To do this, two mounting surfaces must be defined on the outline of the wiring comb in advance. You specify the mounting surfaces by placing outline definition points of the type "Wiring comb front" and "Wiring comb rear" on the outline.

Preconditions:

  1. Select the following menu items: Utilities > Master data > Outline (extrusion) > Open
  2. In the subsequent dialog select the outline of the wiring comb.

The outline is opened in the outline editor.
  3. Select the Insert > Logic > Wiring comb front menu items.

An outline definition point "Wiring comb front 1.1" appears in the outline editor.
  4. Place the outline definition point on the front of the outline with a mouse-click and with that determine the starting point of the mounting surface.

  5. At the desired distance of the outline definition point just inserted place another outline definition point "Wiring comb front 1.2" and thus determine the end point of the mounting surface on the front.

  6. Repeat the procedure for the definition of a mounting surface on the rear of the wiring comb by using the menu items Insert > Logic > Wiring comb rear.

Note:

The outline definition points for mounting surfaces must be placed clockwise on the outline of the wiring comb.

  1. Close the outline editor.
  2. In the parts management, at the part of the wiring comb, store the outline edited this way in the Macro field of the Technical data tab.
  3. Place the wiring comb in the layout space by means of the menu items Insert > User-defined rail, for example on a rail of a wiring system and drag the wiring comb to the desired length.

Together with the wiring comb the wiring cut-out defined in the outline editor is automatically placed.
