Using the Input Box

The input box offers you the option of entering values via the keypad for various functionalities in the Editors (Graphical Editor, 3D View etc.). You define this and the required transparency in the User settings. To use the input box in the Editor, proceed as follows:

Precondition:

You have opened a page, form, plot frame or symbol.

  1. Select the Options > Input box menu items to activate the input box.
  2. First choose the required action (for example Insert > Graphic > Line).

A small text window appears at the mouse pointer, with the following information:
    Starting point for line (absolute)
    Point entry: X Y
  3. Enter the required values for the first point of the line, for example 250 180. (This generates the starting point of the line at the coordinates X = 250 and Y = 180.)

The starting point is defined. The input box now shows the request to specify the end point of the line:
    End point for line (relative)
Point entry: X Y or angle < length or angle
  4. Specify the line end point by either simply clicking the mouse, or by entering a value in the input box, for example 45<200, which would generate a line at an angle of 45 degrees, 200 mm long.
  5. If you have only specified one angle for the end point, for example by entering 145, the text window re-appears, requesting you to either provide absolute line information or to specify the X / Y coordinates for the end point.
  6. End the action via the Cancel action popup menu item or via the [Esc] button.

Tips:

Note:

The setting for activation and deactivation of the input box is synchronized. I.e., if you activate the input box in the Settings and then deactivate it in the Editor, it is also deselected in the Settings.
