Tab Inheritance (Extended project structures)

In this tab you determine how components inherit the structure identifiers or device tags from their environment.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Group box Nesting

Nesting specifies the way in which components use the structure identifiers or device tags from superior schematic elements, like structure boxes and black boxes. Use the check boxes to determine which devices inherit their DT from their environment.

Group box Adopt structure

Disable DT adoption for Fluid devices:

This function applies to all fluid devices. If the check box is checked, fluid devices do not adopt a DT.

Always nest structure identifiers at components:

If this check box is selected, then substructure identifiers are inherited, i.e., the identifiers are strung together.

Also nest with structure identifier of page:

In accordance with EN standards, the structure identifier of a component placed on a page is nested with the structure identifier of the page, and this mechanism can only be switched off by prefixing the DT with a greater-than character (">").

If this check box is selected, then all structure identifiers of the components placed on a page are nested with that of the page. Exceptions to this rule are full DTs preceded by the ">" character; reporting of the ">" character then applies to all structure identifiers and the DT itself.

If the check box is deselected, the structure identifiers of the page are not transferred to the devices.

Inherit black box structures to interruption points:

If the check box is selected, the structure identifiers such as higher-level function, mounting location, etc. from black boxes and PLC boxes are inherited at the interruption points. This behavior corresponds to that in EPLAN 21.
