Assembly / Device

An assembly (or a device) is an item designed mainly for assembling units composed of other library items. Creating such a unit in the Library environment makes it possible to place all the assembled parts together in the workspace / workdesk environment in one step.

The Break up in bill of materials check box (available in the Advanced section of the properties panel of an assembly) influences the behavior of a placed assembly in the nailboard / cable drawing and in reports. If the check box is not activated (which is the default), the assembly acts as an integral entity and there is just one item for the assembly in reports. If the check box is activated, the assembly is not displayed in reports at all. Each sub-part will then have its own supplier and manufacturer displayed, and it can be decided separately (using the In bill of materials check box of the Advanced section) whether it should be displayed in the bill of materials reports or not.

Activating the Prefer Assembly/Device symbol check box (available in the Advanced section of the properties panel) means that the assembly or device will be derived as one part into the nailboard or cable drawing. The 2D symbol of the assembly/device will be used.

Activating the Wire harness separator check box in the Advanced section of the properties of an assembly in the workspace / workdesk allows each assembly sub-part to be assigned to a different harness.

Wires and cables can be connected to assembly-specific connectable objects (connectors, connectable objects, terminals) by means of so-called connection pins.

Balloons

While Prefer Assembly/Device symbol is checked and Break up in bill of materials is not checked, one balloon group is shown for each assembly / device and is attached to the assembly / device symbol. Checking Show accessory will display balloons for all accessories of the assembly / device and its sub-parts.

While Prefer Assembly/Device symbol and Break up in bill of materials are checked, individual balloon groups are displayed for each assembly's / device's sub-part and are attached to the assembly / device symbol. Accessories directly under assembly / device are not displayed.
