Placing Non-graphical Accessories

The Add non-graphical accessory function allows for placing library objects without any graphical representation in the workspace / workdesk. This serves mainly to include such parts into the corresponding reports and the bills of materials.

Any library item (with the exception of drawing header, drawing border, nail, and 2D symbol) can be placed in any workspace / workdesk as a non-graphical accesory.

Non-graphical accessories can be attached to a pin, wire harness, cable unit, terminal strip, or any library item (with the exception of drawing header, drawing border, nail, 2D symbol, and non-graphical wire terminal).

Non-graphical accessories are placed within existing components in the workspace / workdesk; they are listed under the node of the associated component in the workspace / workdesk tree view.

Non-graphical accessories are assigned the wire harness ID from the parent component, regardless of whether automatic wire harness affiliation is turned on or off in the workspace or workdesk settings. For this reason they are part of the bill of materials.

Assuming that non-graphical accessories have a wire harness ID assigned, they are displayed in the corresponding reports. I.e. a non-graphical special component is listed in the special components report, a non-graphical connector is listed in the connector report, etc.

Note:

Accessories are placed without any accessories of their own.

  1. Select the Insert > Add non-graphical accessory menu items or the button on the main toolbar.

The Part navigator dialog is opened.
  2. Select the desired part and click [OK].

The Part navigator dialog is closed.
  3. Select an existing component in the workspace / workdesk working window or in the tree view, to which you would like to attach the accessory.

The non-graphical accessory is placed below the node of the selected component in the tree view.
