Cable

Electrical engineering

In general, a cable represents the combination of multiple electrical or optical conductors into a physical whole. A cable serves the purpose of transmitting electrical energy, data, signals, light, etc. Special case: Single-conductor cables are common in electrical engineering, for example 1 x 240mm2. For cables with multiple conductors the individual conductors are typically electrically insulated from one another. One or more uninsulated but separate shields can exist within this outer and inner insulation.
In EPLAN a cable is the combination of several cable connections. These cable connections can be conductors, but also optical fibers, tubes, etc.
In parts management, "cable" means the cable part.
In the graphical editor, "cable" mean the device (e.g., "W2") and the connections gathered in the cable definition lines.
