Forms and plot frames consist of static elements such as rectangles, lines, embedded bitmaps, etc. These are edited exactly like the corresponding objects on schematic pages. That is, they can be filled, moved, or pulled to a different position and you can assign them certain properties, such as line type, text direction, etc. Simply select the object and edit it or open the appropriate dialog with a double-click.

For both plot frames and forms there is a template you can use to assign the newly generated object certain default values. When creating a form / plot frame, however, there is no query as to which template should be used, since the standard template is automatically always used.

In addition to graphics you can also insert macros and symbols into a form or plot frame. All symbols and autoconnect lines are automatically converted to graphics in this case. When inserting symbols, only the symbols themselves are inserted without property texts. When inserting macros, the property texts are placed with the symbols.

Static elements have no influence on the data EPLAN generates when the schematic logic is evaluated. In addition to these static elements forms and plot frames also consist of – and this is the important aspect – placeholder and special texts that are filled by the program in accordance with the entered data.

When cutting / copying and pasting data, the following should be noted:

• If source and target have the same editor type, logical information is retained.
• If the source is of a different editor type as the desired target, then the data to be inserted is converted into a simple graphic and then inserted.
