You have opened a project. The project is not write-protected. Options > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Management > Revision (change tracking).
In this dialog you can specify the settings for change tracking.
Overview of the main dialog elements:
In this field you enter the text used to mark changed pages as "drafts". The text is displayed as a watermark on the relevant pages.
Template for automatic marking:
For certain page modifications and for changes to objects, EPLAN automatically generates descriptive texts which are displayed as revision markers when printing and/or in revision overviews.
In this field, you can determine which properties will be displayed in the automatic descriptive text. Use [...] to open the Format dialog, where you can determine the properties and their formatting.
Always prompt for description of page modification:
If this check box is selected, the Edit revision marker dialog is displayed for certain changes to pages in a revision project; you can edit the revision marker text here.
Output project in PDF format upon completion:
If this check box is selected, a copy of the project is stored in PDF format automatically when it is completed.
Always prompt for marker text:
If this check box is selected, the Edit revision marker dialog is displayed for every change in a revision project, and you can edit the automatically generated revision marker text here.
If the check box is deselected, the revision marker texts are automatically entered at the changed objects, without the dialog for text editing being displayed.
Generate reference project when new revision of completed project is created:
If this check box is selected, then a reference project is also generated when you make a new revision from a completed project. The reference project is automatically named and stored in the project directory.
If the check box is deselected, the completed project becomes an *.ell project when a revision is generated. Modifications are managed using the revision data.
While deleting create deletion markers and list deleted pages:
If this check box is selected, then deletion markers are generated when objects (components, texts, etc.) are deleted, and the deleted objects are identified on the project pages by a revision marker and a deletion marker. The properties of the deleted object are stored at the deletion marker and can be viewed there.
Information about deleted pages is also stored. A list of deleted pages is displayed in the Deleted pages dialog.
If the check box is deselected, no deletion marker is generated and no information is stored about deleted pages.
Take page types specially into consideration when completing:
In this group box you can specify that certain page types are specially treated when completing:
The page types shown in the Always complete field are always considered when completing and are provided with a revision index, even if there have been no modifications on the project page.
The page types shown in the Never complete field are never considered when completing, regardless of whether or not changes have been made on the project page.
You can use the buttons above the two fields to add the desired page types to the field or to remove them again.
Button |
Meaning |
---|---|
(New) |
Opens the Select page type dialog for selecting the desired page type. |
(Delete) |
Removes a highlighted page type from the field. |
To allow pages with the page type selected in the Always complete field to be considered when completing pages, you must also select these pages in the page navigator before completing, or complete the project straight away. If you wish the current revision index to be numbered as well, you must select a relevant numbering scheme in the company settings.
Always complete page types
You have created a revision of the sample project ESS_Sample_Project, and have made a change on schematic page =GB1+A1&EFS1/1 with the description 400 / 230 V power supply. To allow the latest revision index to also be shown on the title page of the project, in the Settings: Revision (change tracking) dialog, in the Always complete field, select the page type Title page / cover sheet. First of all, in the page navigator, select both the schematic page and the title page. Then once you have completed the pages with the index EPLAN1, this text will also be displayed in the plot frame on the title page.
Never complete page types
You have made some changes on the schematic pages of a revision project. Now when you complete the project and select the Generate report when completing project check box, the report pages will be updated before completion. These updates are recorded as a change and also listed in a previously output revision overview. With extensive reports, this can quickly cause the revision overview to become confusing.
If the updated report pages are not to be listed in the revision overview, you must exclude the report pages from completion beforehand. To do this, in the Settings: Revision (change tracking) dialog, in the Never complete field, select the relevant page types (Parts list, Device tag list etc.). Now when you complete the project, the report pages are actually updated, but not listed in the revision overview.
Consider objects in options when toggling:
If this check box is selected, changes to and toggling of options in the revision are logged.
If the check box is not selected, the toggling of options is not logged in the revision. Changes to options are still logged. This settings makes sense for the "master projects" in which the options are edited.
When comparing projects, options are generally not taken into consideration. Only the functions currently in the project, i.e., the activated options, are compared.
