EPLAN provides several options for creating user-defined properties. These properties are stored project-specifically and can be used at various objects within a project.

1. Select the menu items Options > Configure properties.
2. Click the (New) button in the Configure properties dialog.
3. Enter a unique identifying name in the Generate user-defined property dialog.
   
   The identifying name cannot be changed later on.
4. Enter the name under which the property is displayed in the project in the Displayed name field. Multi-lingual entry is possible.
5. Select in the Input aid field whether free entry is to be possible for the property or whether values are to be selected from a selection list.
6. Select the category in which the property is displayed in the Category field.
7. Specify the objects for which the property is to be available in the Usage field.
8. If you selected one of the options "Selection list" or "Self-extending selection list" in the Input aid field, define the possible entries in the drop-down list in the Default values selection list field.
9. Click [OK].
   
   The new property is available in the project.
