Tab Export (user, DXF)

In this tab you specify the special settings for DXF / DWG exports.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Page filter:

From this drop-down list, select a page filter that you created as a scheme in the page navigator. A filter selected in this way is stored in the DXF / DWG export scheme. If the saved filter no longer exists, the export is canceled and message is displayed.

A chosen filter is activated automatically. The "- Not activated -" entry deactivates the filter and causes an unfiltered display of the data.

Export medium:

Set the export medium for the export in this group box:

Storage medium: If this option is selected, the DXF / DWG file is output to a storage medium.
Enter the storage location in the Output directory field. You can specify any drive and subdirectory as the target for the export. When you select the drive, you can also burn the export directly to a CD.
E-mail: If this option is selected, the DXF / DWG file is sent as an e-mail. Once the function has been called up, the file is zipped using the internal zip program and your installed e-mail editor is started.
From the Split size drop-down list select the maximum size for an individual e-mail file. The possible values are 1 MB to 10 MB in 1 MB increments, or you can select "Unlimited". EPLAN automatically creates the number of e-mail files required to send the whole project. All individual mails in the group will have this text in the subject line: "<File name> n/m". "n" is the number of the individual e-mail file and "m" is the overall quantity of the files.

Note:

A MAPI-based e-mail client must be installed and correctly set up on your computer in order to exchange e-mails. For this reason the e-mail app of Windows 8^® cannot be used either.

Generate file names:

In this drop-down list you specify the default method for allocating file names when exporting DXF / DWG files:

From consecutive number: If you select this option, EPLAN assigns default names to DXF / DWG files according to the <consecutive number>.dxf or <consecutive number>.dwg pattern. If DXF / DWG files already exist, EPLAN starts the numbering with the next available number.
From the page names: If you select this option, EPLAN assigns default names to DXF / DWG files according to the <Page name>.dxf or <Page name>.dwg pattern.
From properties: If you select this option, the file name is compiled from the project properties plus any freely-definable separators. Use the [...] button to open the Format: Property dialog to configure the file name.

Generate subdirectories:

In this drop-down list you specify the default method for generating subdirectories when exporting DXF / DWG files:

None: If you select this option, no subdirectories are generated from properties during the export.

Note:

For organizational reasons a project-specific subdirectory is created with this setting, to avoid any possible unintentional overwriting of older export files having the same name.

From page tree: If you select this option, subdirectories that reflect the project structure are automatically generated during the export. If there is already a higher-level function =Higher-level function1 in the project, for example, a subdirectory =Higher-level function1 is created and all the associated pages are exported to it.
From properties: If you select this option, the substructure name is compiled from the project properties plus any freely-definable separators. Use the [...] button to open the Format: Property dialog to configure the file name. You can use the Directory separator format element, for example, to group project and page properties into directory names.

Line type file:

In this file you specify the ACAD line pattern for the transfer. The file is not delivered with the system and must be provided by the CAD program being used (e.g., ACAD.lin for AutoCAD).

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Plot style file:

The plot style to be used when loading into ACAD is defined in this file, if you are using "named plot style tables" in ACAD. The plot style define here is recognized when AutoCAD reads the exported data and is taken into account as a default setting when printing. The file is not delivered with the system and must be provided by the CAD program being used.

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Notes:

ctb files are not entered with their complete path in the export file. In order for the plot style file to be evaluated in AutoCAD it either has to be copied into the plot-style-specific directory of AutoCAD (in as far as it is not a ctb file that is contained in the installation scope of AutoCAD). By default this is the directory C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\R20.0\enu\Plotters\Plot Styles, whereby <username> has to be the name of the Windows user and AutoCAD 2015\R20.0 the corresponding version number of the installed AutoCAD system - the entry enu ("ENglish USA") can be replaced by a different language identifier.
Alternatively the default directory for plot style files can be entered in the options in AutoCAD (Options > Files > Path for printer support file > Search path for plot style table).
If the monochrome.ctb file is selected for the plot style file, this does not have the effect that the export is effected monochrome. It only means that the display and print output should be carried out in AutoCAD in accordance with the settings in the file monochrome.ctb. This can, however, be deactivated in AutoCAD through settings for the display and print output.
