3D: Drilling views (3D) show drill holes that generate items from a drilling pattern or, placed manually, on a basic item in the layout space. The drill holes are not dimensioned, and cannot be output as documents.

2D: Drilling views (2D) show the NC and drill hole-relevant data, drilling patterns, as well as outlines of basic items and parts in a model view. The items and drill holes can be assigned dimensioning in drilling views. The drilling view (2D) is a project-internal document that can be used prior to the production start to synchronize the output drill-hole reports with the current processing status in the EPLAN project.
