You have opened a project.
- Options > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Reports > Output to pages.
- Utilities > Reports > Generate > [Settings] > Output to pages.
In this dialog, you can specify the settings for the output of reports in pages.
Overview of the main dialog elements:
You can use the toolbar to change the sequence of report types in the Report type column. If you update several reports together, this sequence affects the Sequence of report generation. If you generate reports from several report templates, this sequence can also affect the Sequence of report pages in page navigator. This is the case when both report templates have the same start page, or when the first report generated consists of several pages, meaning that the page names are already assigned.
You have created the following report templates with an identical start page:
Report template |
Start page of report block |
---|---|
Parts list |
=REPORT+PART/1 |
Device tag list |
=REPORT+PART/1 |
Possibility 1
Under Utilities > Reports > Generate > [Settings] > Output to pages, move the "Parts list" report type to row position 1, and the "Device tag list" report type to row position 2:
Row |
Report type |
---|---|
1 |
Parts list |
2 |
Device tag list |
If you now generate reports from both report templates together, first the parts list is generated and then the device tag list.
In page navigator, the parts list pages with the =REPORT+PART/1 start page are inserted first. The device tag list pages are inserted after the parts list pages, as the =REPORT+PART/1 start page is already assigned, and EPLAN finds the next available page name.
Possibility 2
Possibility 1 has already been run. You want to re-generate the reports from the report templates, but change the sequence.
Under Utilities > Reports > Generate > [Settings] > Output to pages, move the "Device tag list" report type to row position 1, and the "Parts list" report type to row position 2:
Row |
Report type |
---|---|
1 |
Device tag list |
2 |
Parts list |
If you now generate reports from both report templates together, first the device tag list is generated and then the parts list.
In page navigator, the device tag list pages with the =REPORT+PART/1 start page are inserted first. The parts list pages are inserted after the device tag list pages, as the =REPORT+PART/1 start page is already assigned, and EPLAN finds the next available page name.
Note:
If you wish to modify the report sequence of the report types "Terminal-strip overview", "Plug overview" and / or "Cable overview", you must absolutely ensure that the start page of the corresponding report templates (property Start page of report block) is set correctly for sorting to take place! (Alternatively you can also deactivate the check box Subpage for the respective evaluation types.)
This column lists all of the available report types in EPLAN. There are report types for report overviews and report types for function-related reports. You can use the arrow buttons in the toolbar to change the sequence of report types.
Note:
Please note that the report type "Table of contents" is always output last! If certain reports are not to appear in the table of contents, you have to define corresponding filters to exclude them.
To assign the selected report type to a (different) form, open the drop-down list in this column and click "Browse". The directory defined as the form directory in the settings is already loaded in the Select form dialog. In the File type field, the form type matching the report type is automatically displayed. Select the desired form and click [Open].
In this column you define the Report page sorting depending on the report type. The page sorting specifies for which structure identifier levels of the page structure report blocks are to be generated. You also have the option to have a reporting block generated for each output group. Select a table field and then click [...]. Specify the desired identifier blocks or the Output group component property in the subsequent dialog. The selected identifier blocks or component property are entered into the Page sorting column. A separate identifier block will be generated for each structure identifier level of a selected identifier block or for each output group.
Note:
Which types of page sorting are available depends on the report type. For the "Forms documentation" report type, only (e.g.) the "Total" page sorting option is available.
Select the form for the partial output from this drop-down list. This setting is only available for certain report types, like the table of contents, cable overview, etc. If you have selected a form for partial output, a total output is generated with the form specified in Form and, for instance, for a system-related output, with the form selected here.
This functionality applies to dynamic forms. If this check box is selected, reports from multiple functions are combined on one report page.
Min. no. of rows on report page:
For forms where the Combine check box is available, this value determines how many report lines of one function are at least displayed on one report page. The setting has an effect on where the page break will be inserted.
Subpages are pages for which EPLAN creates an additional classification level in page navigator. These pages have the format 1.1, 1.a, or 1.A in their page name, for example. If, for instance, the check box is selected and the option "Numeric" has been selected in the Character column, main pages and subpages are generated in relation to the report block.
If a report consists of a report block, such as a parts list, the first page of the report block starts on a main page, and all the other pages are output on subpages. If a report consists of several report blocks, such as a terminal diagram that generates a report block for each terminal strip, each first page of a report block will start on a main page. All the other pages of a report block will be output on subpages.
If a report block only has one page, no subpages are generated. In conjunction with the Character column, however, you can specify that each first page of a report block starts directly on a subpage. If the check box is deselected, EPLAN does not generate any subpages.
You want to sort a terminal diagram into the =REPORT/+DOC page structure:
You generate a terminal diagram for the following three terminal strips:
=EB3+ET1-X0
=EB3+ET1-X1
=EB3+ET1-X2
Without subpages
You have deselected the Subpage check box in the report settings. You have selected the structure identifier =REPORT/+DOC and the page name 1, as the start page. EPLAN does not generate any subpages. All report pages for the terminal strips are output on main pages:
Terminal strips |
Explanation |
---|---|
=EB3+ET1-X0 |
This report block consists of two report pages. The first page is given the page name 1, the second page is given the page name 5, because this is the next available page. |
=EB3+ET1-X1 |
This report block consists of one report page. This page is given the page name 6. |
=EB3+ET1-X2 |
This report block consists of two report pages. EPLAN assigns the page names 7 and 8. |
With subpages
You have selected the Subpage check box in the report settings and chosen the "Numeric" option in the Character field. You have selected the structure identifier =REPORT/+DOC and the page name 1, as the start page. EPLAN generates subpages in relation to the report block. Each first report page for a terminal strip starts on a main page, and all the other pages for a terminal strip are output on subpages:
Terminal strips |
Explanation |
---|---|
=EB3+ET1-X0 |
This report block consists of two report pages. The first page is given the page name 1. For the second page, EPLAN generates subpage 1.1. |
=EB3+ET1-X1 |
This report block consists of one report page. EPLAN assigns the page name 5, because this is the next available page name. EPLAN does not generate any subpages, as the report block only consists of one page. |
=EB3+ET1-X2 |
This report block consists of two report pages. The first page is given the page name 6. For the second page, EPLAN generates subpage 6.1. |
Note:
Only one report block that contains all the pages is generated for grouped reports with subpages.
If you have selected Subpage, specify in this column the display of the subpages within the page name. The subpage is always separated from the entry of the main page by a period. You will also determine if the start page of the report will begin directly on a subpage.
- Alphabetical (lower case): The subpage is shown in lower-case letters, e.g., "1.a".
- Alphabetical (upper case): The subpage is shown in upper-case letters, e.g., "1.A".
- Numeric: The subpage is shown in digits, e.g."1.1".
- Alphabetical (lower case), from first page: The report start page begins directly on a subpage. The subpage is shown in lower-case letters, e.g., "1.a".
- Alphabetical (upper case), from first page: The report start page begins directly on a subpage. The subpage is shown in upper-case letters, e.g., "1.A".
- Numeric, from first page: The report start page begins directly on a subpage. The subpage is shown in digits, e.g., "1.1".
Select the Alphabetical (lower case) option. You generate a report that consists of three report pages, and enter 2 as the starting page. Result:
2
2.a
2.b
The starting page begins on page 2. EPLAN will generate the subpages 2.a and 2.b for the subsequent report pages.
You select the Alphabetical (lower case), from first page option. You generate a report that consists of three report pages, and enter 2 as the starting page. Result:
2.a
2.b
2.c
The starting page begins directly on the subpage 2.a. EPLAN will generate the subpages 2.b and 2.c for the subsequent report pages.
The value in this column specifies the number of pages to leave blank between the last used project page and the new report page.
In combination with the value for Blank pages, this setting specifies the page to which multiples should be rounded.
Blank pages = 4, Round = 10

Hide structure identifier if identical:
This setting makes it possible to shorten the display of the DT in report pages.
- Check against page: If structure identifiers or components of the structure identifiers of the devices output match the structure identifier of the page, the structure identifiers are not displayed in the DT. If the structure identifiers of the devices and the page differ, then these structure identifiers will be displayed in the DT.
You have selected the Check against page option.

- Check against header object: This setting is available for function-related reports such as a terminal diagram. If structure identifiers or components of the structure identifiers of the devices that were output match the structure identifier in the header, then the structure identifiers are not displayed in the DT.
- Check all against page (incl. header data): This setting is available for function-related reports such as a terminal diagram. If structure identifiers or components of the structure identifiers of the devices that were output match the structure identifiers of the page, then the structure identifiers are not displayed in the header either.
- No: The DTs of the devices are displayed in report pages with structure identifiers including sub-identifiers.
You have selected the No option.
