Modules form one of the possibilities in the EPLAN platform of mapping complex devices. Modules have the same properties as parts, but additionally contain lists of subparts (so-called module positions). These subparts are identified via a subordinate DT or a so-called "DT ID".
Preconditions:
Assign module items
Preconditions:
- You have opened the parts management: Utilities > Parts > Management.
- You have selected a module and opened the Module tab.
- Click (New) to generate a line in the list of module positions.
- Click [...] in the Part number field.
- Select the desired part from the tree or list structure of parts selection.
Multiple selection is not possible here, i.e., the uppermost selected part is always used. - Click [OK].
- Enter the subordinate device tag of a device that belongs to this module in the DT cell.
Notes:
- The device has to be part of the macro that was assigned to the module. The part entered in this line is assigned to this device when inserting the module.
- Either the subordinate DT of the device or the DT ID entered at the device is used to identify a device assigned in the macro. Correspondingly either an entry in the DT column or in the DT ID column is possible per row (meaning for a module position).
- Click [Apply] to write the entries and changes to the database without leaving parts management.
- Select the [Extras] > Sum up function templates menu item.
The function templates located at the subparts of the modules are summed up and entered for all the modules in the Function templates tab.
Note:
The default values for a new line are taken from the line currently selected, i.e. its data for quantity, part number, and DT are used. If no entry is marked, then an empty line (with a default Quantity = "1") will be generated.
Insert modules into graphics
Precondition:
You have opened a project page in the graphical editor.
- Select the following menu items: Insert > Device
- Select the previously created module from the Parts management dialog and click [OK].
- Place the module by clicking on the schematic page.
The module part is entered at the black box and the subparts listed in the module are assigned to the module devices.
