Precondition:

You have opened a project.

1. Select the following menu items: Options > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Devices > PLC
2. Click [...] next to the PLC-specific settings field in the Settings: PLC dialog.
3. Select the Address formats tab in the Settings: PLC-specific dialog.
4. Select a user-defined scheme from the drop-down list or create a new scheme.
5. Click [...] next to the field for the desired address format in the Address formats group box. Separate address formats are possible for digital and analog inputs and outputs.
6. In the Format of PLC address dialog, you define the address format using the format elements Counter and Separator. In the Available format elements list, select the Counter element and use the arrow key to copy it to the right into the Selected format elements list.
7. You define the format for the counter in the Format: Counter dialog. Select the number system to be used for displaying the counter and the start and end values for addressing.
8. Define the number of positions.
9. If necessary, select a property from the Configuration value from property field whose value is to be used as the counter start value (for the first PLC connection point).
10. Click [OK].
11. In the Available format elements list, select the Separator element and use the arrow key to copy it to the right into the Selected format elements list.
12. You define the character to be used for displaying the separator is specified in the Format: Separator dialog.
13. Click [OK].
14. Format the next counter and separator in the manner described above and continue until the desired address format has been built. Every counter and separator can be defined separately from each other.
15. Click [OK].
    
    A preview of the defined address format is displayed in the Preview; the format elements are represented by identifiers.
