You can create terminals either in the graphical editor or in the terminal strip or device navigators. Using the graphical editor, insert the terminals in the schematic and then edit their properties. Also, in the terminal strip or the device navigator, you have the option of predefining terminals with certain properties that you can then place at a later time.
Initially, you can create non-default terminals and then edit their properties later. However, you can also specify the properties for the terminal upon creation. You can use the function definition to generate terminals with default properties.
In the Terminal tab of the property dialog you can edit the properties of a terminal.
Create terminals
- Select the Project data > Terminal strips > Navigator menu items.
- Select a terminal strip definition or a terminal below a terminal strip.
- Select the Generate terminal popup menu item.
- Enter the required data for the new terminal, e.g. the terminal designation and connection point designations, on the Terminal tab in the Properties <...> dialog.
- Deactivate the Main terminal check box if you want the terminal to be managed as an auxiliary terminal.
- Click [OK].
Tips:
- Via Popup menu > New functions you can generate multiple functions automatically using a numbering pattern. This will allow you to create multiple terminals with the same function definition at the same time.
- You can create multiple terminals by selecting a part via Popup menu > New terminals (devices). In this case, the terminals may have different function definitions; this depends on the function templates stored for the part.
Create terminals with default properties
- Select the Project data > Terminal strips > Navigator menu items.
- Select a DT or a terminal strip definition, and select the New popup menu item.
- In the Function definitions dialog in the Selection field scroll through the tree structure and select the desired terminal.
- Click [OK].
- In the Properties <...> dialog, in the Terminal tab, enter the desired data for the new terminal.
- Click [OK].
Tip:
You can copy and place terminals using drag & drop, by dragging selected terminals from the navigator and dropping them into an open page in the graphical editor within your project.
