Plugs are managed via the plug definition and can be created in the plug navigator, the device navigator, and when inserted into the schematic.
If you want to create a predefined plug (with a fixed number of male and / or female pins), you have to first set up a plug definition. In the process you determine whether the plug definition manages the male pin end, the female pin end or the male-female pin combinations.
Tip:
With separate management of male pins and female pins, male pins as a default are assigned to a plug definition for the male pin end and female pins to a plug definition for the female pin end. However, with the Assignment to male / female pin end property you can determine for individual pins whether the pin is assigned to the male pin or the female pin end of the plug. This way you can define plugs include female pins in addition to male pins which on the pin end.
If you only want to create a new plug (without any other properties), just enter the plug DT in the Properties <...> dialog when you insert a pin. This creates a non-predefined plug without a plug definition. Such a non-predefined plug is visible in reports, but you can't assign it any properties (this can only be performed via a plug definition).
You can create non-predefined plugs first and then edit the properties at a later date. You can also determine the properties for plugs immediately as you create them. You can create a plug with predefined properties using the function definitions.
In the Plug definition tab of the property dialog, you can edit the properties of a plug.
