Dialog Settings: Messages and checks

In this dialog, you can create a scheme for the display of messages.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Scheme:

Select the scheme that you wish to use or edit from the drop-down list. You can also use the adjacent toolbar for this purpose.

ID / class:

This list field shows the different message classes. If you select a message class, then the possible messages in this class are displayed on the right in the table.

Table:

In the table, the possible messages are displayed for the message class selected on the left. The table contains the following columns:

Number:

The message number is shown here. The message number consists of a string of six characters: The first three digits identify the class to which the message belongs (e.g. terminals, cables, etc.). The last three digits identify the message uniquely within a class.

Message text:

A description of the problem which occurred appears here.

Category:

You can use the drop-down list to determine whether the message should be displayed as an error, a warning, or a note.

Type of check:

Use the drop-down list to specify what type of check run you want:

  • No: The corresponding check will not be executed.
  • Offline: Messages are not immediately written to message management during processing, but rather only after a project check. If project checks relating to connections are also activated in the selected project check scheme, the connections are updated automatically before an offline project check (both for individual pages and for the entire project).
  • Online / offline: Messages are written to message management immediately when they occur (that is, "online"), if it is open. Resolved messages are not deleted automatically, but rather must be removed from message management by a project check (that is, "offline"). In order to obtain an overview during processing, however, you can mark messages as resolved and filter that property.
  • Prevent errors: If a change is made which contradicts a type of check marked in this way, the change is undone once the data has been applied. In addition to the project check text, the page, DT and position of the incorrect item are output.
  • Module-specific: In addition to the message management, other modules also perform checks that may lead to appropriate messages (e.g. during automatic cable generation or when addressing PLC inputs / outputs). This type of check is preset and cannot be changed.

Filter:

In this field, you select a scheme specifying the trade to which the check is to be extended. Click [...] to open the Filter dialog, which you can use to define or edit a scheme. Possible filter criteria include "All trades", "Electrical engineering", or "Hydraulics".

Generated by:

It is shown here as to who defined the message. In most cases, the messages are defined by EPLAN. Using the API interface, however, you have the option of defining your own messages.

Licensed:

This field shows whether a check run is part of the current license in use. If the field has a check mark, the check run is contained in the licensed add-ons. However, an empty field indicates that the check run is not included in the scope of the license in use. In this case, no settings can be configured for the check run.

Popup menu:

The popup menu provides - depending on the field type (e.g. date, integer, multilingual) - the following menu items that are, depending on the situation, available for influencing the table or editing the values in the fields. You can find an overview of these popup menu items in the section Popup menu items.
