User-defined base points are mounting points with predefined properties manually placed in a macro by the user that can be used as the property of an accessory placement in accessories management. This way you define the positions on frame profiles and housings where the macro may be placed as an accessory part.
Notes:
- Mounting or base points can also be inserted on mounting surfaces or mounting grids.
- To subsequently change the alignment and rotation of a base point, use the Rotate around axis functionality.
Preconditions:
- You have opened a project.
- You have opened the layout space navigator and a layout space.
- The layout space contains imported 3D bodies which are to be saved as a macro.
- Object snap is switched on.
- Select the following commands: Tab Insert > Command group Mounting aids > Base point.
- Move the cursor over the 3D geometry.
The 3D snap points of the object are displayed in red. These are the end or center points of an edge or the corner points of a cuboid surrounding the object. - Click on a point on the desired surface.
The base point to be defined is indicated by a coordinate cross at the cursor. - Using the shortcut key [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [R] you rotate the X axis of the base point in steps of 90°.
- Select the Placement options popup menu item to specify any rotation angle for the X axis and / or an offset in X, Y and Z direction in the Placement options dialog.
- Click the required point.
- Enter the corresponding values in the fields Name and Description of the property dialog.
- Click [OK].
The base point is placed as a cyan cuboid with a 3D coordinate system at the selected position.
Note:
A message is displayed if a base point with the same name already exists in the edited macro. In it you have the option to place the base point nevertheless or to cancel the placement by clicking [No]. In the latter case the property dialog remains open and you can select a different name for the base point.
