Editing Device Properties

Precondition:

You have opened the property dialog for a component / function, for example via the Properties popup menu item.

In the <Function category> tab of the Properties <...> dialog, you specify the properties of the selected function. Each tab is labeled with the function category of the corresponding function definition, e.g. "Motor", "NO contact", "Safety fuse", etc. The most important properties are entered in the fields in the upper part of the tab, e.g. the displayed or the full DT, the connection point designation, the functions text, etc. You have the option of setting up additional properties in the table of the Properties group box.

Tips:

  • You can also open the properties dialog by double-clicking a component in the graphical editor or a function in a navigator. Or select the Properties popup menu item (this way, multiple components or functions can also be selected).
  • Using the Paste properties / values popup menu item in the properties table, you can paste one or several properties and their associated values that have been copied from another object. If the property already exists then only the values are inserted. If a property has not been displayed in the table yet, it - and the copied value - will be shown after pasting.

Determine property configuration

During the configuration of properties for the properties table a difference is made between pre groups of properties (category "Data", "Settings", etc.) and groups that you have compiled yourself (category "User-defined"). The following section describes the configuration of pre-defined groups for functions. To carry out property configurations for the property tables of other objects such as projects, pages, etc., proceed in an analog manner.

Preconditions:

  • You have opened a project.
  • You have opened the property dialog for a function. The <Function category> tab is in the foreground.
  1. Select one of the pre-defined categories ("Data, "Settings", etc.) from the Category list.
  2. In the Properties table, select the Configure popup menu item.

All properties which are currently shown in the table are displayed in the Configure properties dialog. The display will depend on the category chosen.
  3. Click (New) to add a property to the property configuration.
  4. Select the desired property in the subsequent Property selection dialog.
  5. Use the arrow buttons in the dialog Configure properties to specify the order in which the properties are to be displayed.

The properties listed here are shown to you in the dialog Properties <...> for all similar functions.
  6. Click [OK].

The property configuration is saved user-specifically.

Notes:

  • The selected properties are only displayed for functions of the same type in the property dialog. You can specify a selection of properties for general devices, terminals, PLC connection points, etc., which should be shown in the table.
  • Properties that can be manually modified and are filled cannot be removed either in the Properties table or in the Configure properties dialog. They are automatically replaced. Such properties are sorted down to the end of the table.
  • You can save a property configuration of self-created properties as a scheme through the "User-defined" category. In the process only those properties are displayed in the table that were also specified in the user-defined property configuration. Properties that can be manually modified and are filled are then not displayed in the table.
  • The property configuration of pre-defined groups (category "Data", "Settings", etc.) can be exchanged with other users in the Settings dialog via the export and import of user-specific settings by means of the settings area "Property configuration". User-defined property configurations are not exported. Such property configurations can be exported via the button in the field Scheme of the Configure properties dialog.
