Tab View (model view)

On this tab you can edit the display properties of model views.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

View name:

Every view is identified by a unique name that is stored in the set language. You cannot have multiple views with the same name.

Description:

The description is any multilingual text that describes the view in detail.

Layout space:

A model view can always be created for only one layout space. This drop-down list displays all the layout spaces contained in the project. When you open the dialog for the first time, the name of the first main layout space in the project is displayed.

Basic items:

Here you can specify what is to be displayed in the model view. You can also further restrict the content of the layout space that is displayed. Click [...] to open the 3D object selection dialog and select the objects to be displayed in the model view.

In the case of 2D drilling views and model views, the basic items can also be components of lower item hierarchy levels, e.g. mounting surfaces. In the case of copper unfolds, this is not possible.

If the selected basic items do not contain any graphics, the next-higher item with graphics is automatically added.

[Toggle]:

Click this button to open the Show / hide 3D objects dialog. Here you can change the visibility of individual 3D objects independently of the basic items. All items in the previously-selected layout space are listed in a tree view. A tick in front of each item also indicates whether the item is shown or hidden in the view.

Viewpoint:

  • Bottom / Top / Left / Right / Front / Back: These are the orthogonal views of the model; they each show a view parallel to an individual axis.
  • SE isometric / SW isometric / NE isometric / NW isometric: These are the isometric views, displaying three-dimensional views in two dimensions.
  • Note:

    Dimensionings and texts cannot be inserted in model views with isometric viewpoints. This is only possible in the orthogonal viewpoints.

Style:

  • Wire frame model: The selected items are displayed in the model view without calculation of the hidden lines. It is thus possible to view even the hidden items in the enclosure. The edges are drawn with black lines, line thickness 0.5 mm.
  • Hidden lines: The selected items are displayed in the model view after calculation of the hidden lines. This style is the default setting for creating a new model view.
  • Hidden lines / Simplified representation: The selected items will be displayed, independent of the setting made in the related layout space, with hidden lines and in simplified representation for terminal strips and 3D macros.
  • Shading: With this style, a bitmap of the required items is generated in the set view. Dimensioning cannot be used as bitmaps have no snap points.
  • Shading / Simplified representation: The selected items will be displayed, independent of the setting made in the related layout space, with shading and in simplified representation for terminal strips and 3D macros.

Scale setting:

  • Automatic: The scale is calculated to that the enclosure fits in the selected area optimally. Only the scales recommended in DIN ISO 5455 are used.
  • Fit: The scale is again calculated to that the enclosure fits in the selected area optimally. Any possible scale may be used, however, e.g. "1:12", but only whole integers are permitted.
  • Manually defined: If you select this setting, the Scale field is enabled and you can specify any scale.

Scale:

This field is active if you select the "Manually defined" option from the Scale setting field. Enter the scale in the format "1:x".


Properties group box

The following properties are, among other things, available for model views:

  • Model view: Item labeling: Here you can specify which scheme is to be applied for labeling the items in the model view. Click [...], to open the Settings: Labeling dialog and to select or create a new scheme.
  • Model view: Rotation: By selecting a value from this drop-down list, the content of the model view is rotated by 90°, 180° or 270° counterclockwise. This can be useful in order to make optimum use of highly-formatted model views on pages in landscape orientation. The border of the model view is not rotated. Texts in a model view that is rotated by 90° are rotated by the same angle. The exception are property texts to be read from the right. For them to remain legible, they are rotated by -90°.
  • Model view: Do not automatically rotate texts from layout space: If the check box of this property is activated, the automatic rotation of texts of a property arrangement texts is prevented if the model view was rotated. For example, this can be useful in order to use a horizontally rotated model view as a vertical manufacturing basis. In such a case the texts remain aligned as in the layout space and become thereby easier to read.
  • Note:

    This setting only affects property texts which were transferred from a layout space.

  • Model view: Scheme for automatic dimensioning: Here you can specify which scheme is to be applied for automatically dimensioning the items in the model view. Click [...], to open the dialog Settings: Automatic dimensioning and to select or create a new scheme.
  • Model view: Selection scheme: A selection scheme is use to specify the item types to be displayed in the model view. The schemes are stored in the project. Select the scheme that you want to use from the drop-down list. Or click [...], to open the Settings: Item selection dialog and edit or create a new scheme. There is always an active scheme. If a scheme is loaded and the display of predefined items is then changed manually using Toggle, the entry in this field is automatically changed to "User-defined".
  • Model view: Apply viewpoint to mounting surface: If the check box is activated for this property, the display of an item in oblique position is aligned at its mounting surface. This way, even an item with sloping alignment will be depicted in the model view correctly and orthogonally. The dimensioning generated on it will then correspond to the real values.
  • Model view: Frozen: If the check box of this property is activated, the associated model view, copper unfold, or 2D drilling view will be locked for updates. The display remains unchanged even if the objects in the layout space have been modified or if the layout space itself has been deleted. With this setting, you can document different edited versions in the reports.
  • Model view: Edge width: With this property you can set the width of the edge lines in a model view, 2D drilling view and copper unfold to a fixed value, for example 0.5 mm. During zooming and at scale changes the line width is adapted correspondingly. During PDF export the edge lines are output with the specified width.
  • Model view: Display item edges in black: If the check box of this property is activated, the visible edges of the items are not displayed in the color that is specified for the item in the layout space but consistently in black. This setting does not apply for the styles "Shading" and "Shading / simplified representation" as well as for texts and dimensionings.
