P005044: Same connection designation within different potentials or pipings

Cause

In the schematic or in the P&I diagram there are at least two connection designations on connections to which different potentials or pipings are assigned.

This message may be output for the "Electrical engineering" and "Process engineering" trades for several reasons. These are explained below with reference to the following examples:

Reason 1 (electrical engineering)

A connection section was separated from the original potential after potential-oriented connection numbering. The separated connection thus receives a different potential while retaining the same connection designation.

ClosedExample:

The connections between the terminals -X1:1 and -X2:1 and between -X1:2 and -X2:2 were given the potential-oriented designation of 001. Terminal -X1:2 was originally connected to potential L+ via an angle. The angle was accidentally deleted, causing connection -X1:2 to -X2:2 to be separated from the original potential (L+). This connection now automatically receives a different potential. The two connections still have the same designation 001, but their two potentials are different, so the message is displayed.

Reason 2 (electrical engineering)

Potential transfer to a function within the connection is interrupted.

ClosedExample:

Two device connection points -U5:1 and -U6:2 are connected to one another via fused terminal -X2:1. There are two connections with the same designation 002 between the two device connection points and the fused terminal. No connection point numbers are entered for the function connection points at the property Transfer potential to in the connection point logic of the fused terminal. The lack of potential transfer causes the connections with the same designation to be connected to different potentials.

Reason 3 (process engineering)

Potential transfer to a function within a piping is interrupted.

ClosedExample:

Two containers, -CM01 and -CM02, are connected with each other by a piping. This is identified with the piping definition point -WP01. The shut-off control valve -FL01 is installed in the piping. Connection definition points that have the same designation 010 were placed on the piping between the connection points of the containers and the shut-off control valve. No connection point numbers are entered for the function connection points 1 and 2 at the property Transfer potential to in the connection point logic of the shut-off control valve. The lack of potential transfer causes the connections with the same designation to be connected to different pipings.

Solution

Regarding option 1

  1. Locate the relevant connection in the schematic using the Go to (graphic) function from the popup menu in the Message management dialog.
  2. Add the missing connection symbol (an angle in example 1).

Regarding options 2 and 3

  1. Locate the connections with the same designations in the schematic or in the P&I diagram by using the functionalities Go to (graphic) and Go to (2nd coordinate), which the popup menu of the Message management dialog offers you.
  2. Call the property dialog of the function placed between the connections of the same name and bring the Symbol / function data tab to the foreground.
  3. Click the [Logic] button.
  4. In the Connection point logic dialog of the function, check the Transfer potential to property at the function connection points. If the transfer is interrupted, i.e., no connection point numbers are entered, add these numbers to the relevant fields.

If required, start a new check run.
