Tab Management

In this tab you can create and edit a dictionary applying to more than one project or user. The dictionary is used to translate texts from project-related and project-independent EPLAN data.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Dictionary:

Select the EPLAN option here and click to select the *.db database file via a file selection dialog.

You can use the Insert path variable popup menu item to branch to the dialog Select path variable where you can select one of the available path variables.

Or select the SQL server option and then one of the last 15 SQL databases used from the drop-down list. The databases used last are listed at the top. When opening / generating a new database that is not yet contained in the list, the lowest database may be removed from the list. The list can be deleted with the exception of the database currently being used by means of the popup menu item Delete entries.

Or click [...] to specify the settings for using an SQL server in the SQL server setting dialog.

(New):

The (New) button next to the EPLAN and SQL Server fields allows you to create a new Dictionary.

[Extras]:

Menu item	Meaning
Import	Opens the Import dictionary dialog. Enables you to import a dictionary. Files in XML format .etd or in tab-separated Unicode format .txt are possible.
Export	Opens the Export dictionary dialog. Allows you to export a dictionary. Files in XML format .etd or in tab-separated Unicode format .txt are possible. In the next dialog, select the languages to be considered.
Export missing-word list	Opens the Export dictionary dialog. Allows you to export the missing-word list on the basis of the dictionary. Files in XML format .etd or in tab-separated Unicode format .txt are possible. In the next dialog, select the languages to be considered.
Compress	Compresses the selected dictionary. Data and memory segments are merged. Performing this minimizes the memory that is required to save the data and to reduce file access times.

Note:

During the export by means of the menu item Export missing-word list that language is used as the source language which is set in the User-specific translation settings on the tab General.
