Cause
No value was entered for at least one of the following listed properties at the parts placement that are relevant for the power dissipation calculation:
- Simultaneity factor (at devices)
- Power dissipation (at devices)
- Rail cross-section, Rail material, Conductivity (at +20 °C) and / or Temperature coefficient (at busbars).
Solution
- Locate the part placement in the layout space using the Go to (graphic) function from the popup menu in the Message management dialog.
- Call up the properties dialog of the part placement and check on the first tab whether one of the properties Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor (automatic) or Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor (device) is selected and has a value greater than 0 and smaller or equal to 1.
Note:
The value of the property Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor (automatic) is taken automatically from the project property Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor when a part is placed in the layout space. It is possible to define a simultaneity factor deviating from the project for the property Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor (device) for part placements. If you have entered a value in this field, this is also used by the property Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor (automatic). The value originating from the project is then overwritten. A power dissipation calculation cannot be carried out without the specification of a simultaneity factor.
- If the value is equal to 0 for both properties, either enter a valid value at the project property Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor or store the value at the property Power dissipation: Simultaneity factor (device) of the part placement.
- Also check whether a part is entered at the part placement that disposes of specification of the power dissipation.
- To this purpose bring the Parttab to the front in the properties dialog of the parts placement to the front and call up the Parts selection at the entered part.
- In the part selection bring the Properties tab to the front and check whether a value greater than 0 is entered at the Max. power dissipation field.
- If the value is missing, either select a different part or add the power dissipation at the part in the parts management and then select the part again.
- If the part placement is a busbar, check whether a value is entered for each of the following properties at the used part:
- Rail cross-section
- Rail material
- Conductivity (at +20 °C)
- Temperature coefficient. - To this purpose open the part selection, change to the Properties and check whether a value greater than 0 is entered at the properties listed above.
- If not, enter the missing value for the busbar in the Parts management, and select the busbar part again afterwards.
- Recalculate the total power loss.

Using a new check run (any desired scheme) this module-specific message can be deleted from the message management dialog.
