Macros are reusable schematic sections which can contain devices / functions. Copied or cut schematic elements can also contain devices / functions. Devices / functions that you insert into the schematic pages in this way can be automatically numbered on insertion. A DT is determined and automatically assigned online for every device / function that you insert. The counter for DT is incremented by one in the process.
Note:
Only the device groups that you have selected in the online numbering format are numbered.
Preconditions:
- You have opened a project.
- You have opened a schematic page.
- You have access to a macro, or you have copied a schematic section containing devices / functions to the clipboard.
Specify numbering behavior before insertion
- Select the following commands: File > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Devices > Numbering (online).
- In the On insertion of macros and copies group box, select the Number option.
- If you want to create or edit an online numbering format, click [...] next to the Numbering format field.
The Numbering formats dialog opens. Here you can define an Online numbering format. Click [OK]. - If you want to use an existing online numbering format, select an online numbering format from the Numbering format drop-down list in the On insertion of macros and copies group box.
- Click [OK].
- Paste your copy from the Clipboard into the schematic page. Select the following commands: Tab Home > Command group Clipboard > Insert.
- Or insert a macro. Select the following commands: Insert center > Breadcrumb trail Home > Window macros / symbol macros. Using the folder structure navigate to the desired window macro / symbol macro and select it by clicking the preview tile.
The macro / copy hangs on the cursor. - Move the cursor to the desired location on the schematic page.
- Click the page to place the copy / macro.
The device / function is automatically numbered. - End the action via the Cancel action popup menu item or via the [Esc] button.
Specify numbering behavior on insertion
If you activate the numbering behavior prompt in the global settings, you can specify a different numbering behavior for devices in macros or copies at each insertion.
- Select the following commands: File > Settings > Projects > "Project name" > Devices > Numbering (online).
- In the On insertion of macros and copies group box, select the With prompt option and click [OK].
- Paste your copy from the Clipboard into the schematic page. Select the following commands: Tab Home > Command group Clipboard > Insert.
- Or insert a macro. Select the following commands: Insert center > Breadcrumb trail Home > Window macros / symbol macros. Using the folder structure navigate to the desired window macro / symbol macro and select it by clicking the preview tile.
The macro / copy hangs on the cursor. - Move the cursor to the desired location on the schematic page.
- Click the page to place the copy / macro.
The Insertion mode dialog opens. - Select the Number option.
- If you want to create or edit an online numbering format, click [...] next to the Numbering format field.

- Click [OK].
The device / function is automatically numbered. - End the action via the Cancel action popup menu item or via the [Esc] button.
