There are different ways of inserting topology functions:
- You can place functions on a topology page from a navigator. In the process, the multi-line function is assigned to a topology function according to its function definition, and this topology function is placed.
- You can place topology functions directly on the topology page via the Insert center. But these functions are not yet defined precisely, and you must assign the multi-line functions to the topology functions at a later point in time (e.g., via the popup menu item Assign in the device navigator).
- You can work with devices. Either you generate the devices in the topology navigator and place them, or you insert the devices on topology pages using the Insert center. If a macro with the "Topology" representation type is stored for the device, the corresponding topology functions will be generated from it and placed.
- Alternatively, you can also work with unplaced devices in the topology navigator.
