Dialog Wire harness - <Project name>

Wire harnesses, cable units and the components contained in the wire harnesses or in the cables (connections, pins, cables, parts, etc.) are displayed and managed in this dialog. You can edit the properties of these components via the popup menu.

Overview of the main dialog elements:

Filter:

This drop-down list displays all the available filters. A selected filter is automatically activated and is applied to both the tree and the list view. The "- Not activated -" entry deactivates the filter and causes an unfiltered display of the data. Click [...] to open the Filter dialog. Here you can create, edit, delete, copy, export, import, and manage filters.

The popup menu of the Filter drop-down list contains the following entries:

  • Deactivate: This popup menu item is available if a filter has been set: Resets the filter setting to the "- Not activated -" entry.
  • Activate <filter name>: This popup menu item is available if the filter setting is "- Not activated -": Reactivates the last active filter.

This allows you to toggle rapidly between the unfiltered representation and a representation filtered in accordance with your requirements.

Value: <Property>:

Use this field, via Quick input, to adjust quickly the value of a filter criterion for a defined and activated filter.

Tree:

Shows the wire harnesses and the cable units of one or more projects in a hierarchical structure. The top hierarchy level is the project - in as far as several projects are open. Below it the wire harnesses (icon ) and the cable units (icon ) are displayed. Cable units are managed in the wire harness navigator parallel to the wire harnesses and can be part of a wire harness or vice versa.

The first part of the wire harness or of the cable unit as well as the components of the wire harness or of the cable unit are arranged in the hierarchy level below - if they exist. The components (connections, cables, pins, etc.) are subdivided into different hierarchical levels in accordance with the categories of the function definitions (icon ). Otherwise these components are displayed similarly to in other navigators.

Special features:

  • The components that are entered as further parts at the wire harness or cable unit are displayed below the tree structure level Other wire harness components.
  • Both the source and the target are displayed (separated by an arrow) for the cable connections displayed under the cable DTs.
  • If the Part allocation property was used to specify for a part at a component that it is an accessory part this is displayed in an additional hierarchical level (icons for accessories , for parts (source) , for parts (target) ).

List:

Shows the wire harnesses and the cable units of one or more projects and the components contained in the wire harnesses and/or in the cable units in a list. The view depends on the column configuration selected in the Configure representation dialog.

Popup menu:

The popup menu provides - depending on the field type (e.g. date, integer, multilingual) - the following menu items that are, depending on the situation, available for influencing the table or editing the values in the fields. You can find an overview of these popup menu items in the section Popup menu items.

In addition, the following dialog-specific popup menu items are available:

Menu item

Meaning

New

Generates a new wire harness definition or a new cable unit definition.

Delete

Following a prompt, this deletes all selected objects or - in the tree view - all objects below the selected tree structure level. (Multiple selection of objects or tree structure levels is possible here.) At the same time, the placement of the selected objects is deleted in the graphical editor.

Rename (tree only)

Allows you to directly change the wire harness name for a wire harness and the associated components, or the cable unit name for a cable unit and the associated components, in the tree view.

Place

Places the selected function in the schematic. Before the actual placing press [Shift] in order to start the placement action in the mode "Individual functions". Press [Backspace] to open the dialog Place device and, if required, for example open the macro selection or change the representation type.

Edit revision marker

This menu item allows you to edit the revision marker texts and their format. This menu item is only available when a changed object in a revision is selected.

Delete revision marker

This menu item allows you to delete the revision marker texts. This menu item is only available when a changed object in a revision is selected.

Go to (cross-referenced)

Enters cross-referenced functions into the Go to list and opens it.

Go to (all representation types)

Enters all of the representation types of a function (e.g., on a schematic page, an overview page, and / or a report page) into the Go to list and opens it.

Go to (graphic)

Shows the selected object in the graphical editor.

Insert into list of search results

Allows all of the selected objects to be inserted into the search results list. The found objects can be displayed at a later point by using the following commands: Tab Home > Command group Find > Show results.

List with preselection (tree only)

Reduces the number of elements displayed in order to allow for a faster orientation in the list view. If this option is activated, the list view is called up with an automatic filter (preselection) containing the elements that are currently selected.

Select in tree (list only)

Displays the marked object in the Tree tab.

Edit in table

Opens tabular editing, with the possibility of editing the properties of the selected objects.

Properties

Opens the Properties (components): <...> dialog. Allows the editing of the function properties.
