Cable units are now also available as new objects in the EPLAN Platform in order to interlink EPLAN Harness proD better with the EPLAN Platform.
In EPLAN Harness proD, a cable unit is an arrangement of wires and cables (usually with junctions) that are tied together or pulled into a rubber or plastic sheath and can be connected to an electrical circuit. As a rule a cable unit is much simpler and smaller than a wire harness.
Through this extension you can import cable units designed in EPLAN Harness proD and the associated components into EPLAN projects and edit and report them there. You can subsequently export the cable units and their components for further editing in EPLAN Harness proD. The import and export of cable units is carried out analog to the wire harnesses.
The following applies to working with cable units:
- Cable units are managed in the EPLAN Platform in the wire harness navigator parallel to the wire harnesses and can be part of a wire harness or vice versa.
- Analog to the wire harnesses, a cable unit is defined in the EPLAN Platform via a "cable unit definition" and identified via a unique cable unit name. The assignment of functions and connections to a specific cable unit is carried out via the property Cable unit name (ID 31162). This property already existed (old designation Cable unit) and has been renamed for this version.
- You can create cable units in the wire harness navigator as an unplaced object by using the popup menu item New or also insert them as a symbol without symbol graphic on a schematic page. To this purpose the new symbol
CUDEF as well as an associated function definition is available in the master data in theSPECIAL symbol library. - The settings for the wire harness in the Settings: Parts dialog that affect the bill of materials also apply to the cable unit.
New check runs for cable units
You are supported in the message class 033 "Wire harness" by three new check runs for the configuration of cable units. The check runs 033004 and 033005 list those functions / connections that are assigned to a cable unit but for which no cable unit definition exists in the project.
In addition, the check run 033006 is available to check whether the parts of a cable unit assembly stored in the parts management match the components installed in the project. If, for example, a component (a cable, a plug, etc.) is missing or an incorrect part is stored, a corresponding message is generated.
