You have opened a project. You have selected several PLC connection points in the graphical editor, the PLC navigator, or in the device navigator. Or you have selected one or more pages or a project in the page navigator. Select the command Generate schematic. (To this purpose you first have to Customize the ribbon and then assign the desired command to a user-defined command group.)
In this dialog you select the PLC device that is to be subsequently automatically placed. Unplaced PLC functions and also those that are only unplaced in certain representation types can be automatically placed. If you have already generated a PLC schematic then the automatically placed PLC functions can be deleted and placed again. The current project is completely locked when the dialog opens.
Overview of the main dialog elements:
The table shows the PLC devices contained in the selection. A device is always completely displayed, even when only parts of it are included in the selection. If (e.g.) a PLC connection point is selected, then the corresponding PLC card and all the associated connection points are also displayed. However, each function is only displayed once in the table, even if they occur on multiple pages in the project (using different representation types). Unplaced functions and function templates are also displayed.
The table contains the following columns:
- Objects: The PLC device is displayed as a tree view here. The top level is the DT. Expand the tree by clicking , which will display the PLC box and all associated connection points.
- Macro file: The macro name entered at the part is displayed here if the function is assigned to a part. Click [...] in the cell to open the Select macro dialog where you can assign a macro or replace the macro that is already assigned. When a macro with variables and value sets is selected then additional columns for the variables are displayed.
- Status: When assigning a PLC macro, a check is made to see if all necessary macro representation types are present and that they match the device functions. If the macro contains all the necessary data, then a green icon is displayed. In rows of the macro where data is missing (e.g. a particular representation type), a yellow icon is displayed. If the macro is missing or does not match (e.g. it contains too few connection points), then a red icon is displayed.
- Function text: This shows the function text entered at the function.
- Page, single-line: Shows the name of the page on which the single-line representation of the function is placed.
- Page, multi-line: Shows the name of the page on which the multi-line representation of the function is placed.
- Page, overview: Shows the name of the page on which the overview of the function is placed (macro variant A).
- Page, rack layout: Shows the name of the page on which the overview of the function for the rack layout is placed (macro variant E). Only the names of automatically generated pages are displayed.
- <Variable name>: If the assigned macro contains placeholder objects with variables, a separate column is displayed for each variable. The variable name is displayed in the header of each column. If multiple macros have variables with the same name, then only one column for this name is displayed. The popup menu can be used in a table cell for selecting a value set. You can also manually enter values.
Button |
Meaning |
---|---|
(New) |
Opens the dialog for selecting additional PLC devices. All placed and unplaced PLC devices in the project are available for selection. |
(Delete) |
Completely deletes the selected device from the list. If (e.g.) only a single connection point is selected, then all other connection points and the PLC card are deleted from the list. |
(Export) |
Opens the Save As dialog. Allows the configuration of the dialog to be exported. |
(Import) |
Opens the Open dialog. Allows a saved configuration of the dialog to be imported. |
Popup menu:
The popup menu provides - depending on the field type (e.g. date, integer, multilingual) - the following menu items that are, depending on the situation, available for influencing the table or editing the values in the fields. You can find an overview of these popup menu items in the section Popup menu items.
In addition, the following dialog-specific popup menu items are available:
Menu item |
Meaning |
---|---|
Calculate pages |
In the Start pages dialog, allows entry of the page names for the first page of every active representation type. All other start pages for the remaining devices are automatically calculated and entered into the table. |
Assign value set |
Opens the Select value set - <Placeholder name> dialog allowing you to assign a value set to the variables in the selected macro. The variables are not intended for assigning values to PLC functions but rather for the additional functions contained in the macro. |
Clean up variables |
Alphanumerically sorts the variable columns and removes the variable columns that are no longer used. |
Show messages |
Opens the Messages dialog showing inconsistencies between the functions of the device and the assigned macro (e.g. representation type, macro variant, connection point). |
Properties (global) |
Opens the dialog Properties (global): <...>. Allows the editing of the device properties. |
Generate single-line representations:
If this check box is selected, then single-line representations are generated. Macros with the "Single-line" representation type are placed on this, starting with macro variant A.
Generate multi-line representations:
If this check box is selected, then multi-line representations are generated. Macros with the "Multi-line" representation type are placed on this, starting with macro variant A.
If this check box is selected, then I/O overviews are generated Macros with variant A and the "Overview" representation type are placed on this.
If this check box is selected, then overviews for rack layout are generated. Macros with variant E and the "Overview" representation type are placed on this.
Note:
The page type generated when generating the different representations depends on the page type of the macro. (When creating a macro, the page type of the current page is automatically saved.) An overview macro can be placed on a multi-line page when (e.g.) generating an overview representation, if the first placed window macro has the page type "Schematic multi-line".
