Managing Pluggable Bus Ports at the Superior Device

Pluggable bus ports are supported for the PLC data exchange as of the AutomationML AR APC format Version 1.4.0. If a device has inserts into which further devices can be plugged (for example Siemens SCALANCE router with pluggable bus adapters), the bus ports of the plugged-in devices can now be managed at the superior device by means of the property Manage bus ports at the superior device (ID 20620). The superior device and the associated plugged-in devices are identified by means of the properties Rack and Is placed on the rack.

Preconditions:

  • You have opened a project.
  • You have created the PLC device and the devices inserted there in the PLC navigator and/or placed them as PLC boxes on a schematic page.
  1. Mark the PLC device and select the popup menu item Properties.
  2. Bring the PLC structure data tab in the property dialog to the foreground.
  3. Identify the device as a rack by entering a designation in the Rack field. This makes this device the superior device.
  4. Click [OK].
  5. Open the property dialog for the first inserted device and bring the tab PLC structure data to the foreground.
  6. Enter the rack designation of the superior device in the Is placed on the rack property.
  7. Activate the property Manage bus ports at the superior device.
  8. Click [OK].
  9. Repeat these steps for all other plugged-in devices.
