Configure instances
In Designer you define whether several instances can be configured for the elements of a configurator. You then have additional configuration options in the Project Builder. Each instance contains all the configuration variables of the main element. The number of configurable instances is defined in Designer and can be limited or unlimited. The generation of multiple instances is not possible for Macro-Typicals and Typical-Groups.
General requirements
- You have called up the Project Builder.
- You have selected a target project.
- You have opened a configurator in which the generation of instances is permitted.
Procedure
In the Elements drop-down list you see the elements for which the generation of several instances is possible. The configuration possibilities in this section always refer to one instance. Instantiable elements are designated by displaying the number of instances to be generated behind the name of the element.
- Click the icon .
- Enter the number of instances that you require for your project documentation.
- Click Apply.
- Click the respective instance to extend the view.
- Select one of the following options:
- Enter values for the configuration variables. The values of the referenced macro variables are replaced by the values of the configuration variables during the generation of the project documentation.
- Specify whether macros are to be considered when the project documentation is generated. To this purpose activate or deactivate the check box of the corresponding macro.
- Enter the desired structure identifiers for the macros. After the project documentation has been generated, the structure identifiers are available in the page navigator of the EPLAN platform.
- Repeat Steps 5 to 7 for all instances that you want to generate.
- Click Generate.
- The project documentation is generated.
The instances are displayed in a drop-down list below the main element.
You have configured instances.
Note
- You have to enter a value at all the variables that begin with an *. Otherwise the project documentation cannot be generated.
- All the elements whose usage has already been specified in Designer are not displayed in the Project Builder.
- All the variable values are stored for the specified target project. If the configurator on which your configuration is based changes, you have to repeat the configuration.
