Connection Point Patterns (Topology)

When routing connections, the function connection points of the topology function are considered or (if no local connection points are available) the connection point data from the part. On the part, the connection points can be defined either in the assigned connection point pattern or in the function templates. Connection point data such as the X, Y, and Z position or the additional length can, however, only be entered in the connection point pattern and not in the function templates.

If there is no connection point pattern, or there are no connection points, the connection points will be generated from the multi-line functions during the routing.

Note:

If there are no values for the X, Y, and Z position (because these were either not entered in the connection point pattern or because the connection point is not defined), routing is on connection point position (0,0,0). In this case, you should enter a greater addition for the connection point length, so that the calculated connection point length is sufficient for the wiring. A stripping length can, however, not be calculated for the cable; it will then have the value "0".

Routing with local connection point pattern

If there is a local connection point pattern, the search for the connection point will be local only. Connection points from the part will not be taken into account in this case. If a connection point is not defined locally, it does not exist. During the routing, the missing connection point is generated; in the process, the connection point position (0,0,0) is routed.

Routing with connection point pattern from the part

If the connection points are not defined locally, the connection point pattern from the part will be used. The following applies in this context:

Routing without connection point pattern

Routing of connections to targets without a connection point pattern is possible. But for the routing there must function connection points on the topology functions. If the required connection points are missing, they will be generated automatically (if possible) prior to the routing.

If there is only one suitable topology function for the connection to be routed, the required function connection point will be generated there. If there are several suitable topology functions, and either none of the functions or both functions have a suitable function connection point, the connection cannot be routed. In this case you have to manually edit the connection point pattern.
